[ENG/ESP] A Thursday at work amid landscapes and precautions
Warm greetings and best wishes for a well-deserved rest this weekend. Today I want to share with you how my workday went last Thursday, an experience that, like many others on this enchanting island, was full of contrasts, natural beauty, and wonderful moments.
As I mentioned before, the weather has been quite changeable lately. One moment the sky is covered with clouds and heavy rain is falling, and the next, the sun is shining brightly as if nothing had happened. This is very typical of this time of year, which is like winter here, and although it can be a little unpredictable at times, it also gives our days a special charm.
Fortunately, that Thursday, the sun decided to come out early, with its peculiar warmth. We took advantage of the good weather to start our work trip to the Hotel Sunsol Ecoland, where we had scheduled our usual maintenance routine, specifically the chlorination of the main water tank. To change up the route a bit, we opted to take the Portachuelo road, a route that offers spectacular natural landscapes, with beautiful hills covered in green grass and vegetation that seems to come to life after every rain.
On the way, we passed through Santa Ana, a town that always looks radiant, with its colorful houses and peaceful atmosphere.

Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes cómo transcurrió mi jornada laboral del pasado jueves, una experiencia que, como muchas otras en esta isla encantadora, estuvo llena de contrastes, belleza natural y momentos hermosos.
Como les había comentado anteriormente, el clima por estos días ha estado bastante cambiante. En un momento el cielo se cubre de nubes y cae una lluvia intensa, y al siguiente, el sol brilla con fuerza como si nada hubiese pasado. Es algo muy típico de esta época del año, es como el invierno acá, y aunque a veces puede ser un poco impredecible, también le da un encanto especial a nuestros días.
Ese jueves, afortunadamente, el sol decidió salir temprano, con su peculiar calidez. Aprovechamos el buen clima para iniciar nuestro recorrido de trabajo hacia el Hotel Sunsol Ecoland, donde teníamos programada nuestra rutina habitual de mantenimiento, específicamente la cloración del tanque principal de agua. Para variar un poco el trayecto, optamos por tomar la vía de Portachuelo, una ruta que nos regala paisajes naturales espectaculares, con lindos cerros cubiertas de hierba verde y una vegetación que parece cobrar vida tras cada lluvia.
En el camino, pasamos por Santa Ana, una localidad que siempre luce radiante, con sus casas coloridas y su ambiente tranquilo.
Further on, just before reaching the hotel, we came across the lagoon known as “La Playa.” It looked especially beautiful, reflecting the blue sky and surrounding vegetation as if it were a painting. Thanks to the recent rains, everything looked a little more radiant, and I couldn't help but show it to you.
Más adelante, justo antes de llegar al hotel, nos encontramos con la laguna conocida como “La Playa”. Que se veía especialmente hermoso, reflejando el cielo azul y la vegetación circundante como si fuera una pintura, gracias a las pasadas lluvias todo se ve un poco más radiante y no podía dejar de mostrarles.
Upon arriving at Sunsol Ecoland, we were greeted with the usual kindness by the quality department team. After the customary greetings, we got down to work. We checked the digital scale to calculate the exact amount of hypochlorite we needed to use to disinfect the tank. Then, we took the necessary measurements to ensure that everything was within the established parameters. Fortunately, the values were correct, which gave us peace of mind and satisfaction for a job well done.
Al llegar al Sunsol Ecoland, fuimos recibidos con la amabilidad de siempre por el equipo del departamento de calidad. Después de los saludos de rigor, nos pusimos manos a la obra. Verificamos la báscula digital para calcular la cantidad exacta de hipoclorito que debíamos utilizar en la desinfección del tanque. Luego, realizamos las mediciones necesarias para asegurarnos de que todo estuviera dentro de los parámetros establecidos. Afortunadamente, los valores eran los correctos, lo que nos dio tranquilidad y satisfacción por un trabajo bien hecho.
With my duty fulfilled, I took a few minutes to capture some corners of the hotel with my camera. It is a charming place, surrounded by nature, and I always find something new that is worth sharing with you.
Con el deber cumplido, aproveché unos minutos para capturar con mi cámara algunos rincones del hotel. Es un lugar encantador, rodeado de naturaleza, y siempre encuentro algo nuevo que merece ser compartido con ustedes.
On our return journey, we decided to vary our route and took Simplicio Rodríguez Avenue, a road that runs along the coast and offers breathtaking views of the hills and the sea. However, due to recent rains, some landslides and rocks had fallen onto the road. Although this avenue is usually one of my favorites, that day it became a source of concern. The fear that a boulder could fall on the vehicle forced us to proceed with extreme caution, almost at a snail's pace, until we finally connected with 31 de Julio Avenue, which took us back home.
During the trip, I couldn't resist taking more pictures. Despite the risk, the contrast between the wet vegetation, the imposing hills, and the rocks on the road offered a powerful image worth sharing.
Al emprender el regreso, decidimos variar la ruta y tomamos la avenida Simplicio Rodríguez, una vía que bordea el litoral y ofrece vistas impresionantes de los cerros y el mar. Sin embargo, debido a las lluvias recientes, algunos desprendimientos de tierra y rocas habían caído sobre la carretera. Aunque esta avenida suele ser una de mis favoritas, ese día se convirtió en una fuente de preocupación. El temor de que un peñasco pudiera caer sobre el vehículo nos obligó a avanzar con extrema precaución, casi a paso de tortuga, hasta que finalmente conectamos con la avenida 31 de Julio, que nos llevó de regreso a casa.
Durante el trayecto, no pude resistirme a tomar más fotografías. A pesar del riesgo, el contraste entre la vegetación húmeda, los cerros imponentes y las rocas en la vía ofrecía una imagen poderosa y digna de ser compartida.
