[ENG/ESP] A simple Friday, full of colors and great flavors.
It’s already Saturday, and even though my body is still feeling the accumulated fatigue from the whole week, I decided to treat myself to a short break to recharge my energy. The heat on the island is so intense that you can feel the sun piercing through your clothes, your skin, and even your spirits, but even so, there’s something beautiful about those bright days that seem to envelop everything. I wish you all a fabulous, peaceful, and restorative weekend, because after long workdays, it’s always important to pause for a moment and breathe.
Friday, which marked the end of our workweek, was a particularly serene, productive, and colorful day. We had only one task left: to go to the Sunsol Unik hotel to carry out our routine chlorination and disinfection of the main tank. It’s a job we know well, almost by heart, but every day has its own rhythm and its own scenery.
We left home early, when the sun was already blazing, reminding us that staying hydrated and using sunscreen aren’t optional. The sky was that intense blue you only see on the clearest days—a blue that makes the island’s urban and natural landscapes look more vibrant, more vivid, almost as if everything had just been freshly painted.
To mix things up a bit, we decided to head into La Asunción, a city where murals fill the streets with color and creativity. It’s impossible to pass through there without stopping—even if only in your mind—to admire the urban art that transforms every wall into a different story. Starting the day surrounded by art always gives us a sense of freshness, as if our spirits were better prepared to face the day ahead.
Ya es sábado y, aunque el cuerpo todavía carga el cansancio acumulado de toda la semana, decidí regalarme un breve descanso para recargar energías. El calor en la Isla está tan intenso que uno siente cómo el sol atraviesa la ropa, la piel y hasta el ánimo, pero aun así hay algo hermoso en esos días luminosos que parecen envolverlo todo. Les deseo un fin de semana fabuloso, tranquilo y reparador, porque después de jornadas largas siempre hace falta detenerse un poco y respirar.
El viernes, que marcó el cierre de nuestra semana laboral, fue un día particularmente sereno, productivo y lleno de color. Solo teníamos una tarea pendiente; ir al hotel Sunsol Unik para realizar nuestra rutina de clorado y desinfección del tanque principal. Es un trabajo que conocemos bien, casi de memoria, pero cada día tiene su propio ritmo y su propio paisaje.
Salimos temprano de casa, cuando el sol ya estaba imponente, recordándonos que la hidratación y la protección no son opcionales. El cielo tenía ese azul intenso que solo se ve en los días más despejados, un azul que hace que los paisajes urbanos y naturales de la Isla se vean más vivos, más nítidos, casi como si todo estuviera recién pintado.
Para variar un poco la rutina, decidimos entrar por La Asunción, una ciudad donde los murales llenan las calles de color y creatividad. Es imposible pasar por allí sin detenerse, aunque sea mentalmente, a admirar el arte urbano que transforma cada pared en una historia distinta. Comenzar el día rodeados de arte siempre nos da una sensación de frescura, como si el ánimo se acomodara mejor para enfrentar la jornada.
We arrived at the hotel early and carried out our work without a hitch. The readings were within the acceptable ranges, which is always a relief for both us and the hotel staff. Satisfied that we had fulfilled our duty, we left.
Llegamos temprano al hotel y realizamos nuestro trabajo sin contratiempos. Los parámetros quedaron dentro de los rangos permisibles, lo que siempre es un alivio tanto para nosotros como para el personal del hotel. Con la satisfacción del deber cumplido, nos retiramos.
Since it was Friday and we knew the weekend would be busier because of the season, my husband and I decided to have lunch in the city. We chose El Rincón Criollo, a place that always makes us feel at home. Their Creole food, so well prepared, has that comforting flavor that you really appreciate after a morning of work. We had a really nice time, chatting, laughing, and enjoying that little break that feels so well-deserved.
Como era viernes y sabíamos que el fin de semana estaría más movido por la temporada, mi esposo y yo decidimos almorzar en la ciudad. Elegimos El Rincón Criollo, un lugar que siempre nos hace sentir como en casa. Su comida criolla, tan bien preparada, tiene ese sabor que reconforta y que uno agradece después de una mañana de trabajo. Pasamos un momento muy agradable, conversando, riendo y disfrutando de ese pequeño descanso que se siente tan merecido.
When we were done, we set off on the journey back home, once again surrounded by the natural landscapes we love so much. The island always has something to offer, even on the most ordinary journeys: a sunlit mountain, a vibrant tree, a quiet street, a sky that slowly shifts in color.
Al terminar, emprendimos el camino de regreso a casa, nuevamente acompañados por los paisajes naturales que tanto amamos. La Isla siempre tiene algo que mostrar, incluso en los trayectos más cotidianos; una montaña iluminada, un árbol vibrante, una calle tranquila, un cielo que cambia de tono sin prisa.
And so we wrapped up our week—with our work done, good food, beautiful scenery, and the peace of mind that comes from knowing the weekend was just around the corner.
