[ENG/ESP] A Saturday of technical training that also tells stories
This Sunday I’ll finally get some rest and be able to recharge all the energy I so desperately need after an intense week filled with work, heat, and trips to different parts of the island. Feeling that a day has finally arrived when I can breathe calmly is almost a gift—one that I deeply appreciate because I know how necessary it is to pause, even if only for a few hours, to recharge both my body and my spirit.
I hope your Sunday is restful as well, that you can enjoy it in peace, and that you find in it that little refuge we all need from time to time.
Last Saturday I also had to work, but I took it in stride because I knew that the next day I’d have my well-deserved rest. We left home early, as we usually do when the day calls for precision and a steady pace. Our destination was the Sunsol Ecoland Hotel, where we were scheduled to carry out the chlorination and disinfection routine for the main tank. Although it was Saturday, the weather was glorious, with that strong, gleaming sun that has been with us all week—a sun that, while demanding constant hydration, also gifts vibrant colors in every corner you pass through.
Este domingo sí descansaré y podré recuperar todas las energías que tanto me hacen falta después de una semana intensa, llena de trabajo, calor y recorridos por distintos puntos de la isla. Sentir que al fin llega un día para respirar con calma es casi un regalo, uno que valoro profundamente porque sé lo necesario que es detenerse, aunque sea por unas horas, para recargar el cuerpo y también el ánimo.
Deseo que su domingo también sea reparador, que puedan disfrutarlo con tranquilidad y que encuentren en él ese pequeño refugio que todos necesitamos de vez en cuando.
El sábado que recién culminó también tuve que trabajar, pero lo asumí con serenidad porque sabía que al día siguiente tendría mi merecido descanso. Salimos de casa temprano, como solemos hacerlo cuando la jornada amerita precisión y buen ritmo. Nuestro destino era el Hotel Sunsol Ecoland, donde debíamos realizar la rutina de clorado y desinfección del tanque principal. Aunque era sábado, el clima estaba radiante, con ese sol fuerte y reluciente que ha acompañado toda la semana y que, aunque exige hidratación constante, también regala colores vibrantes en cada rincón por dónde uno pasa.
I’ve always said that hot days have a special beauty. The light makes natural and urban landscapes look more vivid, more intense—almost as if the island wanted to show itself in all its splendor. Sometimes I wonder if my phone’s camera can truly capture what my eyes see, because there are moments that look like paintings—scenes you’d want to keep forever, with all their intensity.
When we arrived at the hotel, they were already waiting for us. Since it was Saturday, not all the office staff was there—just those on duty—so the atmosphere was calmer, and time, as is often the case these days, turned to gold.

Al llegar al hotel ya nos estaban esperando. Como era sábado, no estaba todo el personal de oficina, solo quienes estaban de guardia, así que el ambiente era más tranquilo y el tiempo, como suele ocurrir en estos días, se volvía oro.
We climbed up to the main tank to check its capacity and begin the chlorination and disinfection process. The work went relatively quickly because we were only going to chlorinate that tank; the southern tank was empty at the time, which simplified the routine.

Once the work was done, I couldn't resist the temptation to take a few photos. The weather was so beautiful that the scenery looked like something out of a postcard. I love those brief moments that nature gives us—those moments when, even if you're exhausted, the beauty of your surroundings makes everything feel lighter. It's impossible to overlook what the island has to offer day after day.
Una vez concluida la labor, no pude resistir la tentación de tomar algunas fotografías. El clima estaba tan hermoso que los paisajes parecían postales. Amo esos breves instantes que la naturaleza nos regala, esos momentos en los que, aunque uno esté agotado, la belleza del entorno hace que todo se sienta más ligero. Es imposible pasar por alto lo que la isla ofrece día tras día.
After getting off the tank, we took a quick tour of the hotel. We visited the filters at the Tilapia restaurant, located on the west side of the resort, and there we encountered a problem that will need to be addressed soon. The maintenance manager had been on vacation for a month, and no one had been monitoring those treated water filters, which are now showing significant damage. So now we know that next week we’ll have a new task on our agenda.
Al bajar del tanque dimos un pequeño recorrido por el hotel. Visitamos los filtros del restaurante Tilapia, ubicado en el oeste del complejo, y allí nos encontramos con un problema que pronto habrá que atender. El gerente de mantenimiento estuvo de vacaciones durante un mes y nadie supervisó esos filtros de agua tratada, que ahora presentan daños considerables. Así que ya sabemos que la próxima semana tendremos una nueva tarea en nuestra agenda.
As we left the hotel, we breathed a sigh of relief. It was the only task of the day, and now we could head home to enjoy our long-awaited rest. We took the Portachuelo route, where the landscapes, with their natural beauty, seemed to speak for themselves. Every stretch of the road reminded us of how beautiful it is to live surrounded by so much nature.

Al salir del hotel respiramos con calma. Era la única labor del día y ya podíamos dirigirnos a casa para disfrutar del descanso tan esperado. Tomamos la vía Portachuelo, donde los paisajes, con su belleza natural, parecían hablar por sí solos. Cada tramo del camino nos hacía recordar lo hermoso que es vivir rodeados de tanta naturaleza.
