[ENG/ESP] A peaceful Saturday filled with shopping and renewed energy
Happy day! I sincerely hope you’re enjoying your well-deserved rest—that little breather that sometimes seems so hard to come by when routine and work keep us rushing from one place to another without a moment’s respite. At home, we’ve treated these two days off as a gift, almost like a luxury that came just in time after such an intense week that seemed to go on forever. That’s why this break was more than necessary; it was urgent, almost vital for recharging our energy and feeling light on our feet again.
It was so necessary that we woke up at 9:30 in the morning—something that rarely happens. The dogs were already restless, pacing back and forth, and the birds were also waiting for their food. They’re used to being fed early, between 6:20 and 7:00 a.m., but that day they all had to wait for my husband and me because our son wasn’t home. Even so, there was no rush or running around; we got up calmly, feeling that pleasant sensation of deep rest that one rarely experiences.
We knew we had to go grocery shopping, because we hadn’t had time the previous week and we’d already run out of several things. After feeding our birds and pets, we left the house in beautiful, radiant weather, with that sun that lights up everything and that, although at times it seemed to want to hide behind a cloud, always ended up shining through with full force.
Feliz día, espero de corazón que estén disfrutando de su merecido descanso, ese pequeño respiro que a veces parece tan difícil de alcanzar cuando la rutina y el trabajo nos llevan de un lado a otro sin darnos tregua. En casa, nosotros hemos aprovechado estos dos días libres como un regalo, casi como un lujo que llegó justo a tiempo después de una semana tan intensa que parecía no tener fin. Por eso, esta pausa era más que necesaria; era urgente, casi vital para recuperar energías y volver a sentir el cuerpo liviano.
Tan necesaria era, que despertamos a las 9:30 de la mañana, algo que rara vez ocurre. Los perros ya estaban inquietos, caminando de un lado a otro, y las aves también esperaban su alimento. Ellos están acostumbrados a recibir comida temprano, entre las 6:20 y las 7:00 am, pero ese día todos tuvieron que esperar por mi esposo y por mí, porque nuestro hijo no estaba en casa. Aun así, no hubo apuros ni carreras; nos levantamos con calma, sintiendo esa agradable sensación de descanso profundo que pocas veces se experimenta.
Sabíamos que teníamos que salir a hacer mercado, porque la semana anterior no habíamos tenido tiempo y ya varias cosas se habían terminado. Después de alimentar a nuestras aves y mascotas, salimos de casa bajo un clima hermoso, radiante, con ese sol que ilumina todo y que, aunque a ratos parecía querer esconderse detrás de alguna nube, siempre terminaba imponiéndose con fuerza.
We visited several markets until we reached Sambil, where they already know us at the butcher shop. Not because we go there often, but because we also offer our services there, and they always welcome us with care and warmth. In fact, I don’t even have to say what I’m going to buy anymore; they know, they prepare it, and that makes the experience more enjoyable, more personal, more human. It makes their work easier, and for us, it turns shopping into a pleasant experience.
Recorrimos varios mercados hasta llegar al Sambil, donde ya nos conocen en la carnicería. No porque vamos con frecuencia, sino porque también ofrecemos allí nuestro servicio, y siempre nos reciben con atención y cariño. De hecho, ya ni siquiera tengo que decir qué voy a llevar; ellos lo saben, lo preparan y eso hace la experiencia más amena, más cercana, más humana. Para ellos facilita el trabajo y para nosotros convierte la compra en un momento agradable.
When we finished at the market, satisfied as always, we decided to take a quick stroll through the mall. Just a short walk, because we had all our purchases in the trunk of the car and didn’t want to take too long. But we did want to walk around for a bit, see something different, and clear our minds after such a demanding week. Sometimes, those little walks are enough to make you feel like you can breathe again.
Al terminar el mercado, satisfechos como siempre, decidimos dar un pequeño recorrido por el centro comercial. Solo un paseo corto, porque teníamos todas las compras en la maleta del auto y no queríamos tardar demasiado. Pero sí queríamos caminar un rato, ver algo distinto, despejar la mente después de una semana tan exigente. A veces, esos pequeños paseos son suficientes para sentir que uno respira de nuevo.
We came home planning to make a light dinner and sit down to enjoy the World Cup, which always cheers us up—we love it. And that’s how our Saturday went: simple, peaceful, and relaxed. A day without complications or surprises—a day that let us truly rest and recharge for whatever lies ahead.

Regresamos a casa con la idea de preparar una cena ligera y sentarnos a disfrutar del mundial de fútbol, que siempre nos anima, nos gusta. Y así, de manera simple, tranquila y relajada, transcurrió nuestro sábado. Un día sin complicaciones, sin sobresaltos, un día que nos permitió descansar de verdad y renovar nuestras fuerzas para lo que venga.
