Wat Lek Thammakit, an awesome old temple in Ayutthaya period - Part III

Standing in the old area surrounded by a lot of trees, you will see the new Ubosot in the far distance.

Its modern architecture in bright colors makes it look totally different from the beauty of the ruined Ubosot in the old area that you already saw in my previous two posts.

When standing in the new area, you will see the beauty of the new Ubosot closely....

Apart from the new Ubosot, there are other modern buildings in the new area. They have various purposes; i.e.

Bell tower…. It’s a type of building in Thai architecture which is built in every temple in Thailand.

It’s used as a building for hanging bells to signal time for monks to perform the monastic duties.

Crematory building…. It’s used for cremating corpses. It has marvelous architecture.

Other magnificent buildings…. They are used for some activities of monks.

The new area of Wat Lek Thammakit is larger than the old area. However, the trees in the new area are less than in the old area.

By the way, this new part of the temple is also fascinating since this part is adjacent to the river.

On the opposite side of the river, you will see a temple and small chedis in the far distance.

The scenery along the river is picturesque. Walking along the river will surely make you feel refreshed as well.

As you can see, Wat Lek Thammakit is attractive both in the old and new area… It’s worth a visit, for sure!
