First images gives off the feeling of being at an ancient place. Walking will be the preferred option but trying out a horse ride could be great too, higher vantage point to observe the area :)

Yes, horseback riding does give you a higher vantage point. For me it would be difficult to handle a horse and camera simultaneously.
