I found fungi in my village| FungiFriday

Finally, as I was walking along the canal bank, I spotted a large number of mushrooms upon closer inspection.

From a distance, I couldn't really tell what they were; in fact, I walked past once without even spotting a single mushroom. It was only when I looked closely that I realized they weren't just scattered buttons—which is what they had initially resembled—but actual mushrooms growing amidst the weeds along the canal bank. I even had to push the vegetation aside with my hands to get a proper look at them.

While searching for mushrooms, I also began to spot many seashells, as I was examining the ground from very close range; passersby, meanwhile, seemed to think I had lost something—perhaps money—and was trying to find it again.

While searching mushrooms today, I discovered many interesting facts. I learned that mushrooms actually grow in places where active decomposition is taking place underground; they serve as indicators that reveal information about soil health and moisture levels, among many other things.

The weather in the surrounding area was beautiful; heavy clouds hung overhead. It seemed as though a spell of rain had just passed, yet another was imminent—perhaps new mushrooms would sprout.

I sat by the canal for a while because I was exhausted from walking, and I thought I would watch the muddy water flow by while also taking pictures of those mushrooms.

There were clusters upon clusters of mushrooms along the canal bank; it looked as though they had rained down from above along with the downpour—which explains why I spotted so many of them today. Now that I’ve discovered this secret spot, I can easily go there whenever I want to find fungi.

The rain had started again; to avoid getting wet, I headed back home.
