Exploring the beauty of "Shalban Buddhist Monastery ".Signs of an ancient civilization.

Hello everyone,Shalban Buddhist Monastery is located in Comilla city of Bangladesh.Today I will share my travel experience here with you. When entering Shalban Vihar, the first thing you see is the huge golden Buddhist statue. During the day, this statue shines in the sunlight and can be seen from far away. Next to the statue are two lions of the same color standing majestically. There are 3 big and 1 small peaks around this temple. There are also meditation center, orphanage, library, museum, seminar and residential hostel.

Many tourists flock every day to see the magnificent beauty of this 8th century heritage. The area of ​​Shalban Buddhvihar is 37 acres. The place, rich in priceless artefacts, was earlier known as the home of King Shalvan.Hence the name of the Monastery was given as Shalban Monastery.Shalbon Monastery has a temple in the middle, with an elaborate entrance on the north side.

According to a terracotta sign found in the excavation, the fourth king of the Deva dynasty, Sri Bhavadev, built this temple in the 8th century AD. Then the name of the Monastery was Bhavadev Mahavihara. A large amount of artefacts collected from this Monastery are displayed in Mainamati Museum.Comilla region has been rich in education, art, literature, painting and culture since ancient times.

Buddhist Monastery has a variety of flowers like Dahlia, Zinnia, Mouchanda, Button, Rose, Sylvia, Calandola etc. Seasonal varieties of flowering plants are also planted throughout the year.Shalban Buddhist Vihara is one of the monuments of ancient civilization of Bangladesh. This Buddhist Vihara is one of the ancient structures of Comilla district. It is known as a 12th century archaeological site.
