travel panama food vendor.jpg

This local Panamanian woman stands on the curbside in the hot sun until all the fruit is sold. While visiting my son in Panama City, Panama we would drive by her every day when we went out.

I give her so much credit for her stamina to make a decent wage. Most of the local people live on an income for a month that we in the USA earn weekly.

Similar sight here where vendors are on the street selling fruit or veg to make ends meet. Most cannot imagine standing in the hot sun daily to simply sell enough to put bread on the table that night.

I saw how hard the locals worked just to make ends meet. I could not imagine how hard their lives must be. I really felt for them.

Old woman here string the national roads plying their trade in fruits, vegetables, wood carvings or beading. Cities have street vendors everywhere, too many eke out small living through extreme hardship.

It is certainly a hard life for way too many people.

One would do everything to survive and that's what this woman is doing. There's dignity in labour and I'm so proud of her.

I totally agree, Edith. I was so impressed with her stamina, not only her, but many others I saw making a living on the side of the roads selling produce. That must be so hard for them.
