🌴✨ Garden Happiness Record: Planting Palm Trees to Replace Bamboo, Starting Over with Tissue Culture

✨🌿##Hello, all my lovely friends.

Happy Holidays to everyone! I hope you all enjoy this wonderful time. In this post, I'd like to share some happy moments from my own gardening activities. It's the day before yesterday, when we began an important project: planting additional oil palms in our garden.

🌾 Clearance Operation: Farewell to Bamboo, Welcome to Palm

Previously, this part of the garden was home to a bamboo clump I had planted. However, after several days of discussion with my husband, we made the bold decision to cut down and remove the entire clump of bamboo to replace it with oil palm trees. Removing the bamboo was a laborious and time-consuming task, but we were finally able to clear the area and welcome the new member of the economic tree family, the oil palm.
With the opportunity and the free space, we quickly planned a trip to purchase oil palm seedlings and, crucially, fertilizer for this project.

πŸ›’ Agricultural Shopping: Everything You Need at Your Regular Store
We headed to our regular oil palm equipment and seed shop, which truly offers a comprehensive range of products. In addition to palm varieties, they also offer a wide selection of quality equipment and fertilizers. My husband and I carefully selected fertilizers that focused on both yield and leaf nourishment. (It was probably a balanced formula, such as 15-15-15, which is ideal for early-stage nourishment to promote healthy palm growth.)
As we explored the store, I came across several interesting items.

  • 🧀 Extra Thick Leather Gloves: I was amazed at the thickness of the leather gloves on sale. They seemed durable and perfect for heavy-duty gardening, so I bought a pair. Previously, when I went into the garden to harvest, I often got stung by thorns, which hurt me time and time again.

  • πŸ€ Mouse Trap: Another eye-catching corner is the neatly stacked, small mouse traps. It's a great idea for organizing the shop.

  • πŸ§ͺ Photosynthetic Bacteria Water (Red): And what excited me most was the nutrient-rich water section. I found a dark red microbial water that appears to be photosynthetic bacteria (PSB). It has properties that aid plant growth, improve soil, and accelerate flowering and fruiting. Judging from the concentration in the bottle, I knew it was high quality. I immediately ordered two bottles.

🌱 Changed my mind and chose: Tissue-cultured palms, a new option for the garden.

Then it was time to choose our hero: the oil palm. The staff introduced us to various varieties, but I happened to see a sign for tissue-cultured palms at the plantation. This was a variety we had never seen before in our garden.
I originally intended to buy the AA variety, but unfortunately, I had to order a year in advance. Since I only bought a few trees to plant, I decided not to wait.
I changed my mind and chose the tissue-cultured oil palm instead. It was a great opportunity to try a new variety that excels in large, long-stem fruit bunches, unlike the A variety we had planted three years ago, which had short stems and focused on flower production. Trying this new variety could lead to exciting future yields.

β˜”οΈ Planting: Nature's Grace

After shopping for everything, my husband and I headed back to the orchard. Upon arrival, we prepared our tools: hoe, blade, and fertilizer, ready for planting.
We were incredibly lucky because we've been experiencing frequent rain recently, keeping the soil moist, making digging holes and planting very easy. My husband meticulously planted the holes, and I took time to capture the atmosphere.

The planting steps we followed were:

  • Digging holes of the right size
  • Adding a little fertilizer to the bottom of the holes
  • Carefully trimming the bottom of the oil palm bags
  • Planting the oil palm trees
  • Covering them with soil
  • Adding fertilizer again to nourish them

We continued planting until we were finished. It took quite a while, but nature seemed to be on our side. Immediately after planting, it started raining again, just in time. Getting rain right after planting was a double blessing, helping our oil palm trees adapt and establish themselves even better. This oil palm planting is more than just gardening; it's also giving our land a new lease of life with modern varieties, and we've been greeted by the kindness of nature. I look forward to seeing these tissue-cultured oil palm trees grow beautifully and produce a proud harvest in the future.
I'll be sure to update you and share more about the progress of my palm plantation.

πŸƒFor today, I must take my leave.
See you guys next time! Thank you for following and supporting me. Thank you so much! πŸ’–πŸŒ΄βœ¨πŸ™πŸ»
