🐟 From Zero to 100: "Madame in Black" Unyielding Heart Restores Fish Pond After Flood 🏡🌊❤️
Hello, my lovely friends!
After the massive flood that severely inundated our garden, nature has finally returned to normal. The water level in the pond and the aquatic life have returned to their original levels. However, what is heartbreakingly missing are the fish we have carefully nurtured for so long. Even though we have to start from scratch, the spirit of never giving up remains. My husband and I immediately decided that it was time to restore our fish pond.

🔎 The mission to find fish species after the crisis
Starting anew isn't easy. We began by searching for information on fish farms in Trang province from various websites yesterday (Saturday), which was shortly after the floods, making it quite difficult to find sources of good quality fish species.

Finally, I found the Trang Provincial Fisheries Fish Breeding Center, but unfortunately, it was a public holiday, so I couldn't contact them.
I didn't give up. I kept searching until I found a place: a fish farm in Lamphura Subdistrict, Trang Province. The farm and the surrounding roads looked so familiar, like a hazy memory from 3-4 years ago when I bought fish there.
📞 Traveling to the Familiar Fish Farm
I immediately called to inquire about the types of fish they had. The farm informed me that they had a variety of fish, including tilapia, red tilapia, pangasius, and Mekong giant catfish, as well as many other ornamental fish. Although I wanted every type of fish they had, especially the Siamese carp, which is the easiest and fastest-growing fish to raise (unfortunately, they didn't have any for sale at the moment), it wasn't a problem. I immediately arranged with the farm to come and pick up the fry as soon as possible.
And then... we arrived at the farm. Yes, it was the same place I bought fish from many years ago, I just couldn't remember the name. "Madame in Black" has returned again with a stronger heart!

🛒 Ordering and Lessons from the Crisis
We talked with the farm owner for a while and toured the fish fry being bred in the concrete tanks. The farm itself had also suffered damage from the flooding, resulting in a limited number of remaining fish and slightly higher prices.
💡 Regarding prices, the farm owner mentioned that fish are more expensive today than 3-4 years ago. For example, pangasius fish that used to cost 6 baht each are now 8 baht each after the flood receded.
I decided to order fish fry to start over immediately.
Pangasius fish: 100 pieces (8 baht each)
Tilapia: 100 pieces (5 baht each)
Red tilapia: 10 pieces (25 baht each)
I also pre-ordered 200 Siamese carp and 200 rhinoceros fish. The farm promised to call back as soon as the fish were ready, without requiring any deposit.
Soon, the staff began quickly using sieves to scoop the fish, count them, and pack them into bags with water. Then they added oxygen and tightly sealed the bags in preparation for transport.

🤝 Genuine Friendship and Advice
My husband and I spent a considerable amount of time talking and exchanging experiences with the farm owner. I showed them photos I had taken 3-4 years ago – large, heavy fish, the result of my efforts. Everyone at the farm expressed regret that the fish escaped due to the flooding, but for me...
"The fact that the fish escaped and were used by the villagers in the area for food is already a great act of merit."
The farm owner also praised my positive outlook, and most impressively, he gave me a chance and hope by saying, "If the flooding happens again, I can set up a net around the pond to prevent the fish from escaping." What a truly great act of kindness!

🛣️ Stocking up on food for the new members of the family: When it was time to part ways, I thanked everyone for their valuable advice and headed back. On the way, I suddenly realized we needed to buy food for these baby fish!
So, we headed to the market in Trang town and stopped at a pet food store to specifically buy baby fish food. We also took the opportunity to buy cat litter, cat food, dog food, and a few treats for our pet birds. Once our mission was complete, we returned to the garden to prepare to release the fish into the pond.

🌊 The Proper Way to Release Fish into a Pond for Maximum Survival
Releasing newly purchased fish into a new pond is crucial for their survival. They may experience shock from sudden changes in temperature and water conditions, which can lead to death.
Here are the detailed steps I use for releasing fish:
- Acclimation
This is the most important step, to ensure the temperature in the bag and in the pond are similar:
Immerse the bag: Place the bag containing the fish (including the unopened oxygen pump) in the pond where you will release the fish.
Duration: Leave it for approximately 15-30 minutes to allow the water temperature in the bag to gradually adjust to the pond temperature. - Open the bag: Gently open the bag and fold the edges upwards to form a container.
- Fill the pond with water: Carefully scoop a small amount of water from the pond into the bag.
- Repeat: Wait approximately 5-10 minutes, then scoop more pond water into the bag. Repeat this process 2-3 times to allow the fish to gradually adjust. Acclimatizing to the new water conditions.
- Releasing the fish into the pond.
It's time for the baby fish to swim into their new home:
Draining the water: Gently tilt the bag to drain some of the water (to reduce the amount of old water containing waste from transport).
Releasing the fish: Gently allow the baby fish to swim out of the bag into the pond on their own. Do not pour the fish in immediately, as this can shock them. Gently lower the bag into the pond water and allow the fish to swim out as gently as possible.
May my new batch of baby fish be healthy, grow well, and bring happiness back to this garden once again.

That's all for today, my friends. See you again next time. Thank you for watching and for your support. Thank you very much! ✨🌊🏡🎊
