Hello to all the members of this community and art lovers! Last weekend, I ventured out of the apartment where I live, with the intention of clearing my mind and starting to motivate myself to visit new places. What I like about the city of Caracas (Venezuela) is that there are so many free cultural activities available, giving citizens the chance to spend a different day and learn new things. Through social media, I found out about a festival that was going to take place in PDVSA LA ESTANCIA (Altamira), so I decided to take a look around the festival for a while... I was very surprised when I arrived at the place and found that there was an art exhibition on display that left me completely perplexed.

The exhibition brings together around 55 works by the Venezuelan artist Jorge Dager, where he impresses us with his incredible talent in realism. Beautiful landscapes, still lifes, vibrant compositions with a 3D effect and even augmented reality... As soon as you set foot in the room, you are captivated by the magnificence of the brushstrokes of this great artist. There were paintings of different sizes and in all of them, you could spend a long time looking at them, being captured by the incredible strokes.

A few months ago, I tried to paint El Ávila with watercolours, so when I saw Jorge's works dedicated to that emblematic peak, I felt identified with the artist. I also remembered when my painting teacher gave me advice when painting the sky and mountains... Having these memories while looking at the works was inspiring for me.

The same thing happened to me with the fruit still lifes. I haven't painted one in oil for years, but as I write these words, I have one of the paintings I made in my adolescence hanging up, and it happens to be a fruit still life. The way Jorge painted each fruit and each element of each painting invites you to linger, observing each detail, each reflection... it's truly mind-blowing.

The transparencies and reflections are wonderful, they looked like photographs of the objects instead of paintings. A couple of times I tried to paint transparent objects like glass and it didn't work out for me haha ​​talented artists like Jorge who manage to make a drawing look like a shiny object that you can hold in your hand, it's so incredible.

There came a point in the exhibition where I felt a bit self-conscious, because most of the people were there with someone else and there was even a group of kids who I imagine were studying something related to the arts, because they commented on the works with knowledge... And I just looked around and expressed my amazement at myself haha ​​But I really liked that the rooms were full of spectators to the point where you had to wait to be able to take photos, because there is nothing more satisfying than appreciating art.

As I mentioned, some of these works had augmented reality, meaning that after scanning a QR code, you had the chance to see the work in motion. An attendee at the exhibition explained to me how it worked and even took a photo of me with one of the works. She was very kind and thanks to her explanation, I was able to show a lady some of the sequences so she could see them. I am usually a shy person, but at that moment, I was commenting on how wonderful the works were to whoever was next to me haha.

Obviously, seeing them in person is more amazing, especially the one with a little bird, since you could even hear its chirping. It's the first time I've had the opportunity to see works with augmented reality and I must confess that the experience was masterful.

Sculptures were also present at this exhibition. Through different materials, the artist shows us his incredible talent for modeling. My favorites were some figures made with materials like shark teeth 😲 It made me remember when I saw the work of artisans in the town, who made incredible things with shells, seeds and cattle teeth.

Attending this exhibition not only lifted my spirits, but it encouraged me to paint again, maybe not in oil, because I have a lot of materials to buy, but at least with other types of paints 😊 It has also motivated me to go back to art galleries, because there is nothing like appreciating national talent. If you are from Venezuela and you are in Caracas, you cannot miss this opportunity, since this incredible exhibition will be on until April 😉

¡Hola a todos los integrantes de ésta comunidad y amantes del arte! El fin de semana pasado, me aventuré a salir del apartamento en donde vivo, con las intenciones de despejar mi mente y comenzar a motivarme a conocer nuevos lugares. Lo que me gusta de la ciudad de Caracas (Venezuela), es que hay muchísima actividad cultural gratuita disponible, pudiendo brindarle a los ciudadanos, la posibilidad de pasar un día diferente y aprender cosas nuevas. A través de las redes sociales, me enteré de un festival que iba a realizarse en PDVSA LA ESTANCIA (Altamira), así que, me animé a asomarme un rato por el festival... Grande fue mi sorpresa al llegar al sitio y encontrarme con que se hallaba expuesta una exposición de arte que me dejó completamente perpleja.

La exposición recopila alrededor de 55 obras del artista venezolano Jorge Dager, en donde nos impresiona con su increíble talento en el realismo. Hermosos paisajes, bodegones, composiciones vibrantes con efecto 3D y hasta con realidad aumentada... En cuanto pones un pie en el salón, quedas atrapado por lo magnífico de las pinceladas de éste gran artista. Habían cuadros de distintos tamaños y en todos, podías permanecer rato observándolos, siendo capturado por los increíbles trazos.

Hace unos meses atrás, intenté pintar El Ávila con acuarela, así que cuando vi las obras de Jorge dedicadas a aquel pico tan emblemático, me sentí identificada con el artista. También recordé cuando mi profesora de pintura me daba consejos a la hora de pintar el cielo y montañas... Tener estos recuerdos mientras contemplaba las obras, fue inspirador para mí.

Lo mismo me ocurrió con los bodegones de frutas. Tengo años sin pintar uno al óleo, pero mientras escribo estas palabras, tengo colgado uno de los cuadros que hice en mi adolescencia y es casualmente, de un bodegón de frutas. La forma en la que Jorge pintó cada fruta y cada elemento de cada cuadro, te invita a permanecer observando cada detalle, cada reflejo... es realmente alucinante.

Las transparencias y los reflejos son maravillosos, parecían fotografías de los objetos en lugar de pinturas. Un par de veces intenté pintar objetos transparentes como vidrios y no me resultó jaja artistas tan talentosos como Jorge que logran hacer que un dibujo luzca como un objeto brillante que puedes tener en la mano, es tan increíble.

Llegó un punto en la exposición que me sentí algo cohibida, porque la mayoría de las personas estaban allí con algún acompañante e inclusive, había un grupo de chicos que me imagino, estudiaba algo relacionado con las artes, porque comentaban sobre las obras con conocimiento... Y yo, sólo veía para los lados y expresaba mi asombro conmigo misma jaja Pero me gustó mucho que las salas estuvieran con espectadores hasta el punto de que tuvieras que esperar para poder fotografiar, porque no hay nada más satisfactorio que el aprecio por el arte.

Como les mencioné, algunas de estas obras tenían realidad aumentada, es decir, luego de escanear un código QR, tenías la posibilidad de ver la obra en movimiento. Una asistente a la exposición me explicó como funcionaba y hasta me tomó una fotografía con una de las obras. Fue bastante amable y gracias a su explicación, yo misma pude mostrarle a una señora algunas de las secuencias para que las viera. Por lo general, soy una persona tímida, pero en ese momento, comentaba lo maravilloso de las obras a quién tuviera al lado jaja.

Obviamente, verlos de forma presencial es más alucinante jaja sobre todo el que tenía un pajarillo, puesto que hasta podías escuchar el trinar del mismo. Es la primera vez que tengo la oportunidad de ver obras con realidad aumentada y debo confesar que la experiencia fue magistral.

Las esculturas también dijeron "presente" en ésta exposición. A través de distintos materiales, el artista nos muestra su increíble talento para el modelado. Mis favoritas fueron unas figuras hechas con materiales como dientes de tiburón 😲 Me hizo recordar cuando veía los trabajos de los artesanos en el pueblo, que hacían cosas increíbles con conchas, semillas y dientes de ganado.

Asistir a esta exposición no sólo me subió los ánimos, sino que me animó a volver a pintar, tal vez no en óleo, porque tengo muchos materiales que comprar, pero al menos con otro tipo de pinturas 😊 También, me ha motivado a volver a ir a las galerías de Arte, porque no hay nada como apreciar el talento nacional. Si eres de Venezuela y estás en Caracas, no puedes perderte ésta oportunidad, ya que ésta increíble exposición estará hasta Abril 😉
