ENGLISH CONTENT

Hello to all the members of this community! For some time now, I have decided to visit the galleries and museums of the city of Caracas (Venezuela), with the aim of clearing my mind and awakening my artistic side even more. There is nothing like being able to contemplate those works and being able to get closer to capture the details that cannot be appreciated in photographs 😌 Today, I will show you an exhibition called Sex: Female, which has been on display at the National Art Gallery since the beginning of March and which is still in its halls today, along with the exhibition of Luisa Dunia: Whispers of Fire.

Through this exhibition of approximately thirty works, we seek to highlight the work of very talented women in a field that, for years, was more focused on pieces made by men. I hadn't stopped to think about this fact, but after thinking about it, whenever I heard people talking about art in Barquisimeto, I always heard men's names. Now that I have the opportunity to visit these spaces, I have found that there are many women demonstrating that they have always been making art.

This was basically the first exhibition I saw where the protagonists were not only women, but also sculptures. Many people associate an art exhibition with "a group of paintings together," but once you attend, you realize that's not the case... painting isn't the only means of expression, and this exhibition more than demonstrates this.

I don't know anything about art 😅 but I'm always impressed by sculptures, especially the enormous ones, because when I paint or make something, I always try to do it in small dimensions. I've always admired people who take the risk of making works of these proportions. I like to observe the figures and imagine for a moment the artist working on them in their studio, and I'm even tempted to touch them, as part of my imaginative process... obviously, I don't do it, but that desire always arises in me, and I'm left with that feeling of curiosity about the texture of the material used to make a piece.

It's also common for me to find a work I like more than the rest or that catches my attention, either because of its context or the materials used. In this exhibition, I found two that I really liked. The first was a figure of the Virgin Mary made by Rafaela Baroni with polychrome cement and simulated stones. I'm fascinated by how the artist used those stones to give her work a luxurious look. I adore rings and confess that I had, and still have, a few in that style.

On the other hand, the one that caught my attention the most was a sort of mini photography exhibition. Through light slides, Antonieta Sosa shows us a series of quite picturesque scenes, inviting the viewer to become part of the scene being observed. I love these types of exhibitions, because for a moment, you become absorbed in that scene and find yourself examining it in detail, almost as if you were there.

It was definitely a very interesting exhibition that opened my mind to both the different ways of making art and the fact that women have been a leading artist in my country. It would be wonderful to achieve something so wonderful in the future.

¡Hola a todos los integrantes de esta comunidad! Desde hace un tiempo, he tomado la decisión de visitar las galerías y museos de la ciudad de Caracas (Venezuela), con la finalidad de despejar mi mente y despertar mucho más mi lado artístico. No hay nada como poder contemplar aquellas obras y poder acercarse para captar los detalles que no se pueden apreciar en las fotografías 😌 El día de hoy, les mostraré una exposición llamada Sexo: Femenino, la cual se halla expuesta en la Galería de Arte Nacional desde inicios de Marzo y que aún a la fecha, continua en sus salas, junto a la exposición de Luisa Dunia: Susurros del Fuego.

Por medio de ésta exposición de alrededor de treinta obras, se busca realzar el trabajo de mujeres muy talentosas, en un campo que durante años, estaba más centrado en las piezas realizadas por hombres. No me había detenido a pensar en éste hecho, pero luego de pensarlo, cuando escuchaba que se hablaba de arte en Barquisimeto, siempre escuchaba nombres de hombres. Ahora que tengo la posibilidad de visitar estos espacios, me he hallado con que hay muchas mujeres mostrando que ellas siempre estuvieron haciendo arte.

Esta fue básicamente la primera exposición que vi donde los protagonistas no sólo eran mujeres, sino también, las esculturas. Muchos asocian una exposición de arte a "un grupo de pinturas juntas", pero una vez que asistes, te das cuenta de que no es así... la pintura no es el único mecanismo para expresarse y a través de esta exhibición, queda más que demostrado.

Yo no sé nada de arte 😅 pero siempre me impresionan las esculturas, sobre todo las que son enormes, ya que cuando pinto o hago algo, siempre procuro hacerlo en dimensiones reducidas. Siempre he admirado a las personas que se arriesgan a hacer obras de estas proporciones. Me gusta observar las figuras e imaginarme por un momento al artista trabajándola en su taller e inclusive, me siento tentada de tocarlas, como parte de mi proceso imaginativo... obviamente, no lo hago, pero siempre surge en mí, ese deseo y me quedo con esa sensación de curiosidad ante la textura del material que se usó para realizar alguna pieza.

Es habitual también, que siempre encuentre una obra que me guste más que el resto o que llame mi atención, ya sea por el contexto de la misma o los materiales usados y en ésta exposición, encontré dos que me gustaron mucho. El primero, fue una figura de la Virgen hecha por Rafaela Baroni con cemento policromado y piedras de fantasía. Me fascina como la artista utilizó aquellas piedras para darle a su obra un aspecto lujoso. Yo adoro los anillos y confieso que tuve y tengo, algunos de ese estilo.

Por otro lado, la que más me llamó la atención, fue una especie de mini exposición de fotografías. A través de las diapositivas de luz, Antonieta Sosa nos muestra un conjunto de escenas bastante pintorescas, en donde invita al espectador a formar parte de la escena observada. Me encanta éste tipo de muestras, ya que por un momento, te abstraes en esa escena y te encuentras detallándola, casi como si estuvieses allí.

Sin duda fue una exposición muy interesante que abrió mi mente, tanto de las diferentes formas de hacer arte, así cómo el hecho de que las mujeres, han sido un máximo exponente artístico en mi país. Sería maravilloso lograr hacer algo tan maravilloso en un futuro ✨
