Hello to all members of this community and art lovers! A few months ago, I had the opportunity to attend a bird exhibition at the Armando Reverón Museum of Contemporary Art in Caracas. I had learned about the exhibition through the museum's social media, so I tried to attend before it was removed.

The exhibition was located on the ground floor of the museum. Since the lighting was dim and there wasn't much traffic, the atmosphere felt somewhat lonely and even eerie, haha, but I was quite eager to see with my own eyes the pieces I'd been able to glimpse in the reels of its opening.

The works on display came from the collections of the National Art Gallery, the Museum of Sciences, the National Museum of Popular Art, the Museum of Fine Arts, and the Armando Reverón Museum of Contemporary Art of Caracas itself; as a demonstration of the relationship that has always existed between humans and birds.

The first thing that caught my eye was the carved wooden bird figures. It reminded me a lot of the time I lived with artisans who worked with wood. I also painted figures, so I love seeing this kind of work. I've never carved anything, but I'd like to someday, although I know it's a task that requires a lot of practice and care.

There were also paintings with a variety of materials, but the main theme was birds. The second time I attended the exhibition and met a man who recognized the style of an artist he knew in one of the paintings on display, it was fascinating. I love it when artists are recognized in that way, especially for the way other artists express themselves. It's like a kind of secret communion that develops between the viewer of the work and the creator. That's why, at that moment when the man proudly spoke to me about the artist and his painting, I was so happy for that artist... I don't know how to explain it, haha.

However, not all of the exhibit was to my liking. The cages and the display of stuffed animals made me sad. I confess that years ago, I had some birds in cages (it was an unwanted gift), and there came a time when I had to free them because I couldn't bear to think about how painful it was to have wings and not be able to fly far away. However, the idea of ​​this exhibit was to raise awareness about animal abuse and the objectification of birds in activities like cockfighting, a practice that continues today as part of some people's "entertainment."

One of the most magnificent compositions, or I think my favorite, was the one in the very center of the room, featuring more bird figures in a simulated natural setting. Detailing each figure was fun because I imagined myself as a small bird fluttering around those bird-filled mountains, haha.

Despite everything, I enjoyed the exhibition. I hope they do more striking projects like these, but with other animals. It's wonderful to see how each artist can represent something, and when compared to others, they all find a kind of connection ✨

¡Hola a todos los integrantes de esta comunidad y amantes del arte! Hace unos meses tuve la oportunidad de asistir a una exposición sobre aves en el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Caracas, Armando Reverón. Me había enterado acerca de la exposición a través de las redes sociales del museo, así que traté de asistir antes de que la retirasen.

La exposición se encontraba en la planta baja del museo, como la iluminación era poca y no había mucha circulación de personas, el ambiente se sentía algo solitario y hasta tétrico jaja pero estaba bastante ansiosa por ver con mis propios ojos las piezas que había podido ver por encima en los reels de su inauguración.

Las obras expuestas, provenían de las colecciones de la Galería de Arte Nacional, el Museo de Ciencias, el Museo Nacional de Arte Popular, el Museo de Bellas Artes y el propio Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Caracas Armando Reverón; como una muestra de la relación que siempre ha existido entre el humano y las aves.

Lo primero que me llamó la atención, fueron las figuras de aves tallada en madera. Me recordó mucho la época en la que convivía con artesanos que trabajaban con madera. Yo también llegué a pintar figuras, así que me encanta ver éste tipo de trabajos. Nunca he tallado nada, pero me gustaría hacerlo en alguna oportunidad, aunque sé que es una labor que requiere mucha práctica y cuidado.

También habían pinturas con variedad de materiales, pero cuyo tema principal, eran las aves. La segunda vez que asistí a la exposición y me encontré con un señor que reconoció el estilo de un artista que conocía en uno de los cuadros expuestos, fue fascinante. Me encanta cuando los artistas son reconocidos de esa forma y más por el modo en que se expresan los demás de ellos. Es como una especie de comunión secreta que se obtiene entre el espectador de la obra con el mismo creador. Por eso, en ese instante en que el señor me habló con orgullo del artista y el cuadro de su autoría, me alegré mucho por ese artista... no sé como explicarlo jaja.

Sin embargo, no toda la exposición fue de mi agrado. La parte de las jaulas y la muestra de animales disecados, me generó tristeza. Yo confieso que hace años, tuve unos pájaros en jaula (fue un obsequio que me dieron sin yo desearlo) y llegó un tiempo en que tuve que liberarlos, porque no aguantaba el pensar en lo doloroso que era tener alas y no poder irse lejos. Pero, la idea de ésta exposición era visibilizar y concientizar a los asistentes acerca del maltrato animal y la cosificación de las aves en actividades como las "peleas de gallos", una práctica que se sigue realizando hoy en día como parte del "divertimiento" de algunos.

Una de las más grandiosas composiciones o creo que mi favorita, fue la que se encontraba en todo el centro de la sala, pues habían más figuras de aves en un espacio natural simulado. Ponerme a detallar cada figura fue divertido porque me imaginaba que yo misma era un ave pequeña que iba revoloteando alrededor de esas montañas llena de pájaros jaja.

A pesar de todo, disfruté de la exposición. Espero que hagan más propuestas tan llamativas como estas, pero con otros animales. Es maravilloso ver como cada artista puede representar algo y al comparación con otros, todos entran en una especie de sintonía ✨
