Hello everyone in this community and all the cat lovers out there! Last week, I told you how my sister ended up bringing a kitten into the apartment and Ying's stage as the "adoptive cat parent" began. At first, I was a little worried about the adjustment process for both cats, since Ying is over 5 years old and the kitten is only a few months old. She doesn't have a name yet, so when I refer to her I'll call her "the little baby," which is what I affectionately call her, since she seems like a baby to me 😇

The baby is very comfortable in our bed 🤗

Luckily, my fear was only in my head, as the kitten adapted quickly and, at least for the whole week, behaved quite well, without any of the usual messes caused by naughty kittens. The baby loves to play, so she spends much of the day running around the living room, taking advantage of the large number of toys available. She loves Ying's balls, which are made of wadded-up paper and taped together. She can play a lot, running and jumping; Ying even dared to play with her a couple of times... but she seems to get overwhelmed by the baby's energy, because she prefers to escape rather than wind her up 😅

Since my workstation is in the living room, I try to keep an eye on both of them. When I notice Ying is a little tired of the baby's energy, I distract her so she can play with other things. I'm reassured that she has no problem playing alone when Ying doesn't seem interested. The baby is a pretty independent kitty; if she wants something, she'll go get it and isn't scared by loud noises, like Ying is, who seems to panic at the slightest noise. In that, we're both similar 🙃

But I think the moment I was most touched by the baby was when she tried to sit between my legs. I left her there, and she fell asleep. I often tried to get Ying to sit on my lap, like she does with my older brother... but she didn't like it. Since I'm very thin and Ying is a very big cat, there simply isn't enough room between my legs for her to sit properly, so she just leaves. I imagine it's because she can't find comfort 😞 However, the baby is so small that she can stay in that space without any problems, so I've let her sleep whenever she wants.

I hadn't interacted with a kitten since my cat Ikki was a kitten. That was a difficult time because it was during the pandemic and Ikki didn't have contact with other felines, so as he grew up, he became quite unsociable with other cats. I'm glad to see the baby isn't like that. At first, he was afraid of Ying, but now, it's Ying who runs away from her when she wants to play, haha. I hope they can soon get used to each other's company and go back to playing like the day they ran around together. But I suppose they'll learn their own limits over time, not to mention the marked age difference between them.

¡Hola a todos los integrantes de esta comunidad y amantes de los gatos! La semana pasada, les hablé cómo mi hermana acabó trayendo una gatita al apartamento y comenzó la etapa de Ying, como el "padre adoptivo gatuno". Al principio, estaba un poco preocupada con lo que sería el proceso de adaptación de ambos gatos, ya que Ying, es un gato de más de 5 años y la gatita, apenas tiene unos cuantos meses. Aún no tiene nombre, así que cuando me refiera a ella la llamaré "la bebesa", que es como le digo de cariño, ya que me parece una bebé 😇

La bebesa muy cómoda en nuestra cama 🤗

Felizmente, mi miedo sólo estaba en mi cabeza, ya que la gatita se adaptó rápidamente y al menos durante toda la semana, se portó bastante bien, sin que hubiesen destrozos habituales de gatitos traviesos. A la bebesa le encanta jugar, así que gran parte del día se la pasa correteando en la sala, aprovechando la gran cantidad de juguetes que hay a su disposición. Le encantan las pelotas de Ying, las cuales están hechas de papel hecho bola y pegados con cinta de papel. Puede jugar mucho, correr y saltar, hasta Ying se animó a jugar con ella un par de veces... pero parece que se agobia de que la bebesa tenga tanta energía, porque prefiere escapar antes de darle cuerda 😅

Ying, completamente cansado luego de ser correteado por la bebesa 😅

Como mi puesto de trabajo se encuentra en la sala, procuro estar al pendiente de ambos. Cuando noto que Ying está algo cansado de la energía de la bebesa, la distraigo para que juegue con otras cosas. Me tranquiliza que no tenga problemas en jugar sola cuando Ying no parezca estar interesado. La bebesa es una gatita bastante independiente, si quiere algo, lo busca y no se atemoriza por los ruidos fuertes, como ocurre con Ying, quien ante el menor ruido, pareciera que entra en pánico, en eso, ambos nos parecemos 🙃

Pero creo que el momento en que quedé más enternecida con la bebesa, fue cuando buscó de quedarse sentada entre mis piernas. La dejé allí y se quedó dormida. Muchas veces intenté que Ying se quedase sentado en mis piernas, como lo hace con mi hermano mayor... pero no le gustó. Como soy muy delgada y Ying es un gato muy grande, simplemente no hay espacio en mis piernas para que quede bien sentado, así que de una vez se va, me imagino que es porque no encuentra comodidad 😞 Sin embargo, la bebesa al ser tan pequeña, puede mantenerse en ese espacio sin problemas, así que la he dejado dormir cuando quiere.

No había interactuado con un gato pequeño desde que mi gato Ikki, era cachorro. Aquella fue una época difícil, porque fue durante la pandemia e Ikki, no tenía contacto con otros felinos, así que al crecer, se volvió bastante arisco con otros gatos. Me alegra ver que la bebesa no es así, al principio, le tenía miedo a Ying, pero ahora, es Ying que huye de ella cuando quiere jugar jaja Espero que pronto puedan acostumbrarse a la compañía de ambos y que vuelvan a jugar como el día en que corretearon juntos, pero supongo que ellos van conociendo sus propios límites con el tiempo, sin mencionar la marcada diferencia de edades entre ambos.
