My journey from Banda Aceh to Sabang Island graced my eyes with the amazing view of Mount Sarong, from Ulee Lhe Harbor in Banda Aceh to Sabang Island it took around 2 hours with the distance between Ulee Lhee Harbor in Banda Aceh and Sabang Island being around 15-20 kilometers by using a slow boat. Ulee Lhee Port is in Banda Aceh, which is the capital of Aceh Province in Indonesia. Meanwhile, Sabang Island, which mainly consists of Weh Island, is a separate island located off the coast of Banda Aceh.

Sabang Island is an island located at the northwestern tip of Indonesia, precisely in the province of Aceh. Sabang Island mainly consists of Pulau Weh, which is the largest island in the area. The following are some of the views that can be enjoyed on Sabang Island, especially Weh Island.

I prefer to use a slow boat to cross to Sabang Island from the Ulee Lhee port in Banda Aceh, because if we use a slow boat we can enjoy the natural charm of Sabang Island. If the distance is close enough, we can reach the view of several mountains on Sabang Island while still was on board the ship.

There are several mountains on Sabang Island. Apart from Mount Sarong, there are several other mountains on this island, such as Mount Batu Pinang which has a height of around 330 meters, and Mount Jaboi which has a height of around 270 meters. The exact number of mountains on Sabang Island may vary depending on the geographical boundaries considered, but these are some of the most famous mountains on the island.

These are some of the mountains that are often mentioned and known on Sabang Island. It is possible that there are other mountains on the island, but the ones mentioned above are some of the most common and frequently visited by climbers and tourists.

Among these mountains there is one mountain that is most interesting to me, namely Mount Sarong. This mountain is the highest mountain on Sabang Island, and is also known as Mount Kapal.
Mount Sarong is known as ship mountain because local people think that the shape of Mount Sarong resembles the top of a ship when viewed from a distance or from certain angles. Because of this similarity to the profile of a ship, local people and visitors in general often refer to it as Ship Mountain. This has become a popular term and is embedded in local culture and tourism in the area.

This mountain has a height of around 346 meters above sea level and is one of the popular natural tourist attractions on Pulau Weh, Aceh. Climbing to the top of Mount Sarong offers spectacular views of the coast of Pulau Weh and its surroundings, and if we are still on the boat as we approach Sabang Island we will clearly see the full view of the eye-watering shape of Mount Sarong.

Mount Sarong or Mount Kapal is often a climbing destination for tourists visiting Weh Island, because from its peak visitors can enjoy spectacular views over the entire island and the surrounding sea. The journey to the top of this mountain usually takes around 1-2 hours, depending on the speed and level of difficulty of the climbing route chosen.

From the top of Mount Sarong, visitors can enjoy spectacular views over Pulau Weh, Sumatra Beach and the Andaman Sea. Mount Sarong is one of the popular natural tourist attractions on Pulau Weh, attracting local and international climbers to enjoy its natural beauty. Climbing Mount Sarong offers adventure experiences and challenges for climbers with various levels of expertise, so it is suitable for those who like physical activity and natural exploration. The existence of Mount Sarong also provides economic potential for local communities, such as through climbing services, homestays and other tourism businesses, by making the mountain Sarong as a tourist attraction can increase awareness of the importance of preserving nature and the ecosystem on Pulau Weh and promote sustainable conservation efforts.

The climbing route to Mount Sarong usually starts from Ie Seudot Village, which is located on Sabang Island. I will give a brief description of the climbing route to Mount Sarong, perhaps this will be a guide for those of you who want to visit Sabang Island and want to climb to the top of Mount Sarong. Climbing Mount Sarong usually starts from Ie Seudot Village, which can be reached using land transportation or a boat from the port on Sabang Island, then from Ie Seudot Village, climbers will follow the climbing route which is sometimes quite steep and winding. This route is usually quite well maintained because it is a path frequently traversed by local climbers and tourists. Then climbing Mount Sarong generally takes around 1-2 hours, depending on the speed and physical condition of the climber. Trekking can be a bit challenging especially towards the top as some parts of the trail are steep. And during the climb, visitors can enjoy beautiful natural views along the way. The peak of Mount Sarong offers stunning views over Sabang Island, the Andaman Sea and its surroundings. And the last thing is to go to the top of Mount Sarong. After enjoying the view from the peak, climbers can then return to Ie Seudot Village by following the same route.

This is the advantage if we want to visit Sabang Island, before we even get to the island we can enjoy the natural beauty of the mountains and the charm of the view of Andaman Bay. How about it friends, interesting isn't it? Well, I hope my story can make you curious and want to visit Sabang Island, and hopefully it can also inspire all of you to explore and climb all the mountains on Sabang Island, Thanks...
