Touring the village fair
So many people still believe that there are many advantages of being born as a boy in a kind of male dominated society.
You can do whatever you want, go wherever you want. There are no barriers, no family rules or regulations. In which case the girls of our family are very deprived. My long time habit is to go out with friends in the afternoon when I am at home.
Going out two or three days a week sometimes four or five days. Friends metaphorically go out the most. In the afternoon, two friends went out on motorbikes when they wanted to go wherever they wanted. However, in terms of travel, we two friends prefer to go to the village...
Just a few days ago, two friends went out on such an afternoon with bikes. I left the city and went to a far away village. I saw that a very grand village fair was organized there. On the first day, I came back after watching from a distance because it was night. So the next day two friends went out again just to see the fair. To tell the truth, this winter time, many fairs are organized in almost all regions of rural Bengal. The buyers of these fairs are mainly people of different ages including small boys and girls of the village. However, the main focus is on children and women. It was not yet afternoon when we reached the fair grounds. Veer is almost non-existent. Leaving the motorcycle in one place, we both started to watch the fair while walking. Sellers have arranged numerous stalls in three rows. A variety of toys and accessories mostly for kids and girls.
I saw several rides and came there. Among which were Nagordola, Dolna, Swing Boat. Talking to several local people, I came to know that this fair is organized every year on this day. The four-day long fair draws huge crowds towards the end. People come from far away villages to see the fair. Even if there are shopping or food arrangements in such fairs, I just like to see them. During this last period of Hemantar, the farmer's bag is full of rice and his pocket is full of cash. So the people of rural Bengal enjoy this time by spending time in such fairs and make them their own.
