The Old Indian Style Wrestling (Kushti)

Hello Greetings evryone. Welcome to another Blog where i try to show my work to world as it is one thing I love. As sharing my work is always been an important part of clicking pictures as different people from different backgrounds can enjoy what i have to show as well as i love others work.

As this one is about an old sport that has given our country lots of success in the Olympic Games. The Sport is Wrestling. The Game in india known as Kushti and Also Dangal and the players are called Pehlwan. This is one of the old sports in india and has lots of following.

The Wrestlers wear traditional Langot for the fights. As the fights takes place in open ground with self made Circular Court with Soft Soil it is known as the Aakhara. In it two fighters fight untill the back of one touches the ground. The winner is given Cash and advances to the next fight till final and then in final they fights for Mali (The winning amount of final and a Cup).

Fighters are trained in old fashioned ways and also in the modern ways with gyms equipments.

In the pictures the country side where father belongs to is where this tradition in going on from past generations as a fair and a competition of Kushti Wrestling takes places and people contribute money for the winning amounts. The wrestlers comes from different parts of the Country and they travel through different fairs near country villages where the Fair takes place. And they participate in the tournaments in the Whole state. As they travel all over the state to participate in the Wrestling Tournaments wrestlers of all ages participate in the Tournament.

The Old age Wrestlers also Comepelte in tournament. The Elderly wrestlers are the ones who have been coming from years to the same places for the tournament and they enjoy the matches with their other opponents of the other side. Some if the shots of these older legends seeing them participate and telling youngsters what to do is something beautiful.

Here is my experience through my camera as you see this old sport at its best through my lense.
