night sky photography for Photo Quest

(Edited)

So @qurator has this friendly Photo Quest competition every week with new subjects , i don't always manage to compete due to the subjects, but this week i was able to make a picture that fits the competition : Night Sky .

You can find all the info to compete in the Photo Quest here : https://ecency.com/qurator/@qurator/qurators-photo-quest-or-night-sky

My contribution this week is this photo :

And this is a little story on how we got it ;)

So when i picked up my wife from work last night there was this bright yellow thing in the sky , yes it was what look to me like a full moon.

So when i got home i grabbed the camera went on to the balcony and tried to make a photo of it .

1 ) taken with the sony a7IV camera and the Sony 24-105mm f4 GOSS lens at 24mm , not the results i was hoping for.

2 )So let's try it at 105mm and see if that is enough , well not really

3 ) hmm what if i crop the photo to aps-c size , nope still not good enough.

4 ) Time to bring the big guns i guess , get the tripod and the 150-500mm lens on the camera , at 500 mm you get this

5 ) crop at to aps-c size and you get this

6 ) crop it a little bit more and the result is this , that is my contribution for the

the photos are developed with darktable from darktable.org

I also witnessed the yellow moon last night. It was so beautiful. Unfortunately, I didn't capture it cos I didn't want to feel disappointed using a phone camera which wouldn't come out well.

it's hard to capture this kind of details with a phone lens and camera indeed , the size of the camera sensor is one of those problems .

Exactly. That's why I didn't even try. Watching it was enough, at least.

You always get some nice shots. That was a good one for sure. Love the detail in the moon. YOu can see some of the larger craters too.

yes playing with contrast did help in this shot, to make more things visible.

What an awesome shot! I think the detail in this post proves that photography isn't as easy as people think. When you understand the work and creativity behind it, you value it more. Thank you for sharing this with us and goodluck with your entry.

Thank you :)

It is very easy once you understand the nature of light and how to capture it, and even then we make simple mistakes, but that is why we are an amateur photographer and no porfessional one .
