just before the rain ..

Good day all , just before the rain started i went in to the garden to see if i could spot some interesting things for macro photogrpahy this morning.

i found this small hoverfly resting on the tip of a verbena leaf, it looks like a
Platycheirus albimanus , but i could be wrong.

Unfortunetly i wasn't able to get a good top side picture for determination.

I'm not sure yet what the scientific name is, if you do know the name let me know in the comments. At the moment i think it's the Stictopleurus abutilon.

Man these macros are looking super good. You did amazing job by taking these before the rain.

thank you , they are always a bit harder to spot after the rain and you never know when it's going to stop raining, and the cloiuds block the direct sunlight making it easier for me to control the lights on subject.

Awesome shots as alwasy. : )
should try harder to get good shots like yours. some bug or small moth likes to stay under the low plant leaves, make it difficult to get the shots.

if it stays under a leaf , use a small pocket mirror , also works great on mushrooms

Very cool shots! I especially like the one with the black background.

thank you , there are 2 ways of doing it , use black paper as background , or the right use of flash light

Oh, thanks for the link. Black paper is quite a hassle when photographing insects I think.
I do have a (cheap) ring flash, so I might try that once.
