The Walls of Berlin - Briefcase Fairy Dream in Kreuzberg [CCC's Street Art Contest #138]

Now that I have three murals together in my new Walls of Berlin series, I can probably start calling it a collection, and publish it as such. As always, I like to use them as my weekly entries for the ongoing CCC's Street Art Contest where you can find cool murals from around the world. Certainly worth taking a look, or submitting images yourself, if you have interesting street art in your area.

Today I'd like to share a mural I found in the Berlin district of Kreuzberg, on the corner of the Görlizer Str. and Falkensteinstraße, right next to the Görli(zer) Park. It's a beautiful wall painting covering the enormous empty side of a six-story residental building. As expected, the bottom section is covered with several layers of tags, some of which hae managed to reach quite high. Due to its size, however, most of the picture is untouched.

It shows a young professional fairy guy, sitting on one of the gigantic flowers that this natural image is made up of. His professional attire is further extended by the classical briefcase he is holding, matched equally by the dreamy look on his face. Like so many other young office workers, his gaze suggests contemplation, perhaps of his career and the (lack of) opportunities it offers. Maybe this is how he sees himself, as flying around flowers, sprinkling fairy dust, rather than spending his best years in a dull office. Or who knows, maybe it's the other way round: As a fairy he is tired of his fairy duties, whatever they may be, and would much rather pursue an exciting career in media communications!
