Look What's Parked Here - Rough and Tumble Classic GMC Pickup
Some cars you can't just walk past without stopping to take a good look at. They may be old timers, they may have a particular color or interesting accessories. And there there is this old GMC, which qualifies on all accounts.

I saw it on the streets of San José del Cabo, and I knew I needed a closer look. It looks just like it came out of a movie (which may easily be the case), maybe about the time when the highway 1, the only paved road on the Baja, was built. Or it could harken back to the early days of the Baja 1000, though probably not as a racer, but a support vehicle.
Decked out in numerous accessories, such as the two vertical tailpipes, the horn mounted on the roof, and the fan in the cabin, you are not quite sure which ones are (or were) essential in practice, and which ones for show. I also love the wheels with the spokes, the stickers the decals, and the rustic paint job.

In spite of its rough look, the truck looks exceptionally well taken care of. The rusty patches, where the paint has been ground off, are by no means exposed, but covered by a protective layer... Not like the Baja is a very rainy place to begin with, so it shows dedication. This pickup is clearly not an old junker, but a beloved item, whose owner put a great deal of effort into making it look unique.
