Today started very unimpressively, making me feel weird about how the whole day would turn out. I was supposed to do a slideshow presentation at church today. I got up early, extremely sleep deprived as I slept late that morning. After getting to church, it turned out the projector's VGA cable was having problems, so I was unable to present the slideshow that was prepared. I was really disappointed. I got home, played soccer (excellent by the way), and then started preparing for my outing. I was supposed to go across town to my parent's place for a family gathering. My niece was definitely going to be present, so I picked up my camera bag, all excited to do some fine photography work. Forty Minutes later, I was very close to the house when I remembered; HOLY SHIT, I FORGOT MY MEMORY CARD. I have had very little experience with women, but I guarantee this is peak heartbreak. I was so disappointed. I was really looking forward to trying some new ideas with the little one. As if to add salt to injury, she had on this elegant dress her mum made her. Heartbreaking.

I had my memory card inside my laptop because I wanted to get out some photos from my last shoot. Oddly, I reminded myself to not forget the SD card before I left. This has happened before. I was going for my convocation last two years, so I was prepared to take some epic shots, but alas, my SD card wasn't in the camera. Since It was a school environment, I was able to get a temporary SD card replacement only for that day, and I was able to salvage the situation. Earlier today I spilled the whole bloody custard on my pants trying to make dinner. Safe to say, today wasn't my day, lol.

Imagine it was some important paid shoot, like a wedding or summat. Dear photographers, have you had such an experience? How did you salvage the situation? Do share your stories with me in the comment. Thank you for reading. Till next time. Cheers.

Photographers Talk is a new series id be starting occasionally where I share my experiences as a photographer. All the fails wins, etc. It could also be about new gears, post-processing, etc. Completely restricted but focused on our craft; Photographer. This is the first episode.

Worst Nightmare for me was corrupter SD while i only had one in the camera. Now with 2 for backup next thing is probably camera just not working. Lucky didn't happen till now.

Thing that did happen was empty battery on a trigger for a flash. Happened on a payed shoot late night party. Lucky father of the girl is an owner of a electric shop and i know him for ages :)

I swear photographers are among the luckiest people in the world 😅

I remember when I ran out of batter too, it was a paid shoot and I did not have a spare.

Crazy, but somehow, I was able to successfully finish the shoot.

That would be my next topic

with DSLRs it is easier to survive the battery problem. you just turn off the display. Mirrorless is a bit more of a problem it drains battery for the viewfinder :)

True. Tye DSLRs battery last for a while too. I wish to transition into mirrorless in the nearest future too

One time like that. . I was on a wedding job and the card went corrupt in the middle on the shoot.

I had go out and get a new card.lol.
I was told not to do anything with the other card.
When I got home... we went somewhere to try and recover it.

well just learnt to spend on high speed cards

(Edited)

I can so relate 😅
I usually used low quality cards until I invested on a proper SD card and it has been serving me for so long now

Glad the wedding gig went well

That happened soooo often to me too :D
But then I have "developed" a trick: Just take 1 or 2 pictures at home to be sure that the battery is charged and that the SD card is in the camera. If you turn this into a habbit you will never forget those important things :)

But my new camera has two SD card slots now :D

Ah perfect. That habit is brilliant.
That is what I will start doing.
Thank you so much for that idea and also for the DIY token 🥰🙌🏾
