Winter Scenes

Barn

We got some snow last night. Our normal morning walk revealed a world covered in snow.

Swamp

A swampy area in the forest preserve near Salisbury, Vermont.

Apple Tree

An old apple tree stands along the road.

Apples

It has stubbornly held on to its apples.

Rockwall

This low rock walls usually makes it into my snow pictures. The old wall is three feet high and almost that wide. It provides a home for many, many chipmunks and probably some squirrels that can't find a home up in the trees.

Fence post

The sky was blue and the sun was trying to come out. But the clouds persisted and created an odd colored sky.

Driveway

The snow that covered the trees is almost gone only a few hours after I took these shots.

Rockwall and maple tree

Another taller rock wall.

Rockwall and pines

These smaller pine trees look like they should be decorated with lights for Christmas.

Pines

I'm sure there will be many more opportunities to take snow pictures this winter. Hopefully some that have sunnier skys.

Fire ring

Of course all my walks eventually lead to the lake. These chairs and fire ring will probably not be used again until summeer.

Lake

The sky is still overcast. All the snow and ice in this picture are on the lake. The lake isn't really frozen but the snow covered the surface. It will be gone soon only to come back later and try again 🙂

As always, great pictures.

I'm surprised that apple tree still has apples on it.

The snow looks like wet heavy snow.

Thanks. I was surprised by the apples too. I guess there are some varieties hold the apples longer. Early settlers liked them because you didn't have to harvest them all at once - they don't drop the apples. Of course by now they are way past being any good to eat.

Those first snows are so lovely. After that, not so much...
