Vermont Maple Open House Weekend

Its Vermont Maple Open House Weekend Check out this link for more info.

We visited two maple sugaring operations near our home. Foxglove Farm is in Leicester, Vermont.

Foxglove was awarded a Vermont Outstanding Tree Farm in 2024. Not sure what that entails but looks impressive. We sampled some maple syrup and bought some churros that they were making on site this morning.

While we were out driving around we stopped at one of our favorite farmstands - Lemon Fair View in Bridport, Vermont. They are most famous for their sourdough bread (which we bought some today) but they also had some special maple cinnamon rolls made for this weekends event. The rolls were great! plus they had some chocolate milk from Monument Dairy a local dairy in Weybridge, Vermont.

We got a little snow yesterday which made for some winter scenes again. The snow was almost all gone.

This red building was on Bread Loaf View Farm in Cornwall, Vermont. The first sugarhouse above was on this farm.

Some of the old equipment is on display like this old sled and gathering containers.

Classic scene of sap bucket covered in snow.

Here's another sled. The blue line above is a collection line for sap. Many farms have extensive networks of lines running through the woods from trees to central collection points. Happy Maple Open House Weekend 🍁 🙂

I'd like to go to one of our local farms but so far no one has seemed to want to go...sigh....
Its very interesting. My land is probably more suited for maple trees than fruit trees. Maybe I should try it out 🙂
