Things you find in Vermont

Green Stink Bug nymph on a plum tree. Surprisingly pretty little bug. The adult is much plainer - basically just green. I spent most of yesterday working in the yard so I snapped a few photos. But do have one noteworthy find at the end of this post.

A very light colored Wood Frog. They are usually almost brown. This one was almost salmon colored. I read online this is a normal variation in their color.

This Eastern Bumble Bee was a little cold so moving very slowly but apparently it had been busy judging by the pollen on its rear leg. The female bees have pollen baskets on their rear legs.

This tiny Tree Frog hopped onto my wife's hand while she was trying to take its picture 😆 It was quite comfortable and would tuck its legs underneath itself.

Ok. Those of you that have made it this far in my post. Here is my real find - Lion's Mane!

My son casually pointed out this Lion's Mane at the end of our Silver Lake hike. The way foragers often do... me and my friend have found Lion's Mane over there if we look around we will probably find some. WHAT!!!! that obviously means "I have a secret spot for Lion's Mane I have never told you about" 😆

This clump of Lion's Mane was a little fresher than the one from the earlier photos but I forgot to get a photo before we harvested some 🙄 It was about 10 feet up so it took a little work. I boosted up my son. I had some for breakfast and it was delicious. One of the best tasting mushrooms in my opinion but I have bored you with a couple posts about cooking breakfast lately so you will have to imagine what this looked like cooked up with lots of butter and eggs on sourdough toast.
