Skylight Pond, Breadloaf Wilderness, near Ripton, Vermont.

I got out for a #wednesdaywalk hosted by @tattoodjay. Awesome day. Low 70F with blue skies. We started about 9:30am.

Wetlands

The hike is 2.5 miles up to the pond from the trailhead. Unfortunately, the road was closed to repair a culvert about 0.6 miles away from the trail head so our hike was 3.1 miles one way.

Vertical

We had lunch at a shelter above the lake. Then were back at the pickup truck by about 2pm. The hike starts at the road and climbs up 1480 feet. A pretty good workout 😅 Our hike took us up to the Long Trail. The Long Trail runs along the top of the Green Mountains so there are lots of trails that provide access up to the Long Trail. The local trails are great for short day hikes and are necessary for through hikers to come down for resupply.

Island

This is the best hike I've been on for awhile. I'll definitely be back 🙂

Thanks 🙂 I'm finding my way around all the trails here now that we have lived here a few years. I'll have a good list for you by the time you plan your next visit to Vermont 😉

Wow a perfect reflection. Only place I've seen them thatbbn perfect was in Oregon near Diamond Falls.
