Random thoughts and photos

Hello from the lake 😎 its been a hot and humid stretch here in Vermont. Hopefully it will break tonight. I've been stepping up my posting. It always disheartens me when the Hive price falls and content creation falls off. I don't have stats but seems like we are in one of those cycles.

Our neighbor is letting a dog trainer use their field to train his dogs. I think they are Springer Spaniels. He has this target launcher that reminds me of the t-shirt cannons they use at sporting events lol I didn't know target launchers existed. I usually just throw things for dogs to retrieve.

My dahlias are starting to bloom. This is the first. There will be many 😅 they keep multiplying each year. We are actively looking for people to give them away. You have to dig them up each fall anyway so its easy to split and give some away. My wife is putting in our bulb order for the fall. When we dig them up we will put in more hardy bulbs - mostly crocus, daffodils and tulips. Then in the spring we will prep a new bed for thd dahlias. Its a good routine we have going to grow our perennial beds each year.

I posted a few butterflies photos earlier this week. I didn't have a yellow swallowtail photo. They are quite common in Vermont and love our Joe Pye.

I think in this photo I also caught a bee working on the Joe Pye with the butterfly.

We love our morning glories. They are so carefree and thrive along our garden fence. These pink ones had lots of blooms already and they will continue to bloom and spread along the fence.

For some reason we only have a couple of blue morning glories this year. We collect seeds and replant them each year but probably don't need to - they would re-seed themselves I think.

Another very common summer wildflower in Vermont is Queen Anne's lace. This one is in my swampy are but they are more commonly in the ditches and fields.

I'll leave you with another peaceful photo of the lake ☀️
Really nice collection! My experience with morning glories is that they eventually all turn white. I've had 1 or 2 that were blue over the decades, but mostly they revert.
I love posts like this—simple random thoughts and photos can sometimes capture the most genuine moments. 📸✨
Nice views of the lake... You have many flowers in your garden. Here, the squirrels eat everything... but it's true that I only have plants that "re-seed" themselves. I should plant some from time to time to try and outnumber the squirrels 😀
