Into the Woods #wednesdaywalk
We went into the woods for a #wednesdaywalk.
We ventured a little higher up in the Green Mountains and the snow was still pretty. Much of the snow is melted near our house.
It was a nice 30F for our afternoon hike.
The trail head is Brandon Gap and is at about 2,200 ft.
The Long Trail crosses highway 53 near the trail head. The Long Trail runs the length of Vermont from Massachusetts to Canada - a total of 273 miles. Its the oldest long distance trail in the US built between 1910 and 1930 by the Green Mountain Club which still maintains the trail to this day.
Did I mention the snow on the trees was beautiful?
We weren't snow shoeing but fortunately a few others had been on the trail recently and it was packed down enough not to be a problem.
We hiked about 1.5 miles in and then turned around and returned.
The trail was very well maintained including a few bridges.
Lots of mature forest - mostly maple, birch and white pine.
The Green Mountains were all around but mostly obscured by the trees.
My impatient wife heading out while I snap photos.
The section of the Long Trail we hiked also provides access to some back country skiing. Have a great day and squeeze some time in for a #wednesdaywalk to get away from you computer for at least a little bit 🙂
Yay! 🤗

You gotta love how beautiful nature is no matter the season! But discovering it during the winter is something else for sure. Lovely shots!
Thanks. I do love all four seasons here in Vermont
Stunning snowscape photographs that showcase one of the beautiful wonders of winter!
Thanks. I love the winter ... most of the time haha
Cool trail, very well equipped... Nice photos with the snow.
Have a great day
Thanks. It was good to get up in the mountains where there was a nice snow cover. Lots of yard showing around the house right now.
I would like to say that it's a great winter, but I've had enough of it already. However, the photos are cool.
Thanks. I'm ready for some warm weather also.
Until when do you usually have this much snow? We have 12 degrees Celsius today, so I envy you a bit 😊
What a beautiful walk! No wonder that your wife didn't want to wait, but kept walking 😊
Thanks. We are kind of in the foothills. Not much snow cover at our house but if we go up in the mountains a bit there is better snow cover.
