Happy Friday

Happy Friday! I often post pictures of black eyed susans which look similar to sunflowers but here is an actual sunflower 🌻

We have a lone sunflower in one of our flower beds. We did not plant it but there have been sunflowers at this location in the past. Its a volunteer 🙂

I noticed this brightly colored caterpillar along the path on one of our walks yesterday.

This is a black swallowtail caterpillar. I thought it was doomed since it is so late in the summer. But I read online that as long as they have time to form a crysalis they can survive the winter and emerge in the spring.

I also spotted this green grasshopper in the grass.

Grasshoppers are hard to spot while they are still green. I have to admit I don't like grasshoppers 1) they are voracious eaters of all things green and 2) they are harbingers of the end of summer 🙁
Happy Friday Dear! There is always a special kind of relief and positive energy when the weekend arrives after a busy week. Hope you have a wonderful, relaxing, and productive weekend ahead.

I love sunflowers in late summer. Good shots of the Swallowtail caterpillar. They do often overwinter and emerge in spring. I find chrysalis in my gardens and keep them in the garage over the winter. So far I have had 4 of them emerge when the weather warms in spring.
