Corning, New York
Centerway Pedestrian Bridge, Corning, New York.
Corning, New York is the home town of Corning Glass. The Little Joe Tower is a landmark tribute to glass blowing. The history of the tower is fascinating. Wiki article The tower was built in 1912 and used for vertical pulling glass. Glass would be pulled the down the entire height of the tower into a long tube. The tower is 187 feet high! The tube would then be cut down to size and used to make thermometers.
The modern building to the left of the tower is the current headquarters of Corning Glass - a Fortune 500 company.
This cool pedestrian bridge connects the headquarters to other Corning Glass building on the other side of the river including the Corning Glass Museum.
The Corning Glass Company was founded in 1851 and moved to Corning in 1868. More info here courtesy of wikipedia.
I took this panorama from the opposite river bank. Nice blue sky with some river made for some nice reflections. Corning is roughly equal distance from New York City and Toronto. The Corning Glass Museum makes it worth a visit. Great history of glass, lots of art and even demostrations of glass making.
I love the reflections on the water 😍 It's a nice place, very good shots @steven-patrick 👌🏻📸
