Cecret Lake hike - Alta, Utah
Awesome hike up to Cecret Lake near Alta, Utah in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest.
It was a lovely day, sunny and 30Fs.
The hike was 4.5 miles with a 1,210 ft elevation change. Cecret Lake is 9,875 ft above sea level.
The payoff 😍 love those reflections on the lake!
We were at the lake about noon. I think the ice was retreating some as the day warmed up.
The edge of the lake was still iced over but the sun was high and bright.
It was hard to leave and start back down. Such a lovely day!
A few nice stickers for you @heroldius even way up here 🙂
We were following a mapping phone app which was good because this sign looks disturbing temporary, pretty sketchy.
Here's my hiking party.
I would call the hike moderate but it was step and icy for a stretch immediately below the lake.
One more pretty shot of the lake to close out the post ✌️
It is a beautiful lake. surrounded by hills and covered in snow. good shot.
Thanks. We didn't expect the snow 😊 made the hike a little harder but the pictures much better
Very beautiful and probably dangerous terrain.
It is beautiful but don’t take my icy conditions comments too seriously. I’m a 55 year old slightly out of shape guy and I made it pretty easily haha
That place is paradise! Amazing photos my friend!
Thanks it was a great hike 🙂
Beautiful place with this lake surrounded by mountains... and with the snow even more beautiful.
Have a great weekend
Thanks friend. No trips or hikes planned this weekend. Out to dinner for a birthday celebration tonight.
No swimming?!?! But that water looks lovely...
Great photos and cheers to the snow season!
Thanks. I was gonna one up your dip in Paradise Lake haha but darn 🙂
The natural beauty is quite interesting and the water in the lake also looks quite clean. Does it have various kinds of aquatic biota?
There are salamaders that my local friend saw on an earlier hike to the lake but that was before the cold weather hit.
Amazing place, reminds me Kazakhstan.
Thanks. The mountains are rugged but not as high as Kazakhstan. The tallest peaks in Utah are 12 and 13,000 ft
