Birds and other stuff

Got a great shot of this great blue heron by the outlet of the lake. He has been hanging around in the shallows and on the docks.

Another exciting shot of a fledgling barred owl. We had been hearing a kind of unusual call around this area of the woods and finally saw this little guy. Apparently mom was late with lunch 😆

We also got out on the lake. We live near the lake but don't go out on the water more than a few times a year.

Our neighbor always watches the loons on the lake and takes us for a tour when they have babies. These two little ones are just a few weeks old. One of the residents of the lake puts out a newletter that tracks the loons and some other going ons around the lake. His boat is named the Loonatic.

Here is a heron on a dock. I apologize for the grainy long zoom.

Random shot of willow stump. I cut down a mysteriously dead willow tree in the swamp. Well mystery solved. A boring insect went to town on this tree. I guess willows are magnets for boring insects because of their soft wood.

This picture from earlier this morning shows the effects of smoke coming down from the Canadian wildfires.

Also from this morning, we are getting a steady harvest of rasperries, blueberries and snap peas from the garden right now.
Thanks for being Ecencial ❤️
