Responsible ownership is not just about giving them food!
Hello my beautiful people from Hive Pets! Today I want to tell you something that has my heart in my hand. A few days ago my dog Shakira started with a nasty cough, the kind that sounds like her soul is going to come out of her mouth . At first I thought it was something mild, but no... the cough continued and well, she had to be treated with syrup.

¡Hola mi gente bella de Hive Pets! Hoy les quiero contar algo que me tiene con el corazón en la mano. Hace unos días mi perrita Shakira comenzó con una tos fea, de esas que suenan como si se le fuera a salir el alma por la boca . Al principio pensé que era algo leve, pero no… la tos siguió y bueno, le tocó tratamiento con jarabe.

And just when Shakira was getting better, wham! my other dog, La Mochis, got sick. She also had a cough, but in addition something happened to her patica mocha (yes, she has a patica like that, but it is stronger than many). It was like some kind of fungus or something, she had a fever, and to top it off she had a watery eye. I was in the middle of an eight between medicine and fear.

Y cuando ya estaba medio mejorando Shakira, ¡zas! que se me enferma La Mochis, mi otra perrita. También con tos, pero además le pasó algo con su patica mocha (sí, ella tiene una patica así como mocha, pero es más fuerte que muchos). Se le reventó como una especie de hongo o algo raro, le dio fiebre, y para rematar tenía un ojito lloroso. Yo estaba vuelta un ocho entre medicina y susto.

We started with cough syrup, antibiotic (including injection, which hurt me more than her) and eye drops. I had to organize schedules, check temperature, clean the wound and of course, give lots of love... because that also heals!

Empezamos con jarabe para la tos, antibiótico (inyección incluida, que me dolía más a mí que a ella) y gotas para el ojito. Me tocó organizar horarios, revisar temperatura, limpiar la herida y claro, dar mucho amor… ¡porque eso también sana!

And this is where you realize what it really means to have pets. It's not just taking a cute picture of them for Instagram, or saying “oh how cute”. It's being there when they get sick, knowing that they are a big responsibility, that they need attention, care and money too, because everything costs. But they also give you a pure love that has no comparison.

Y es aquí donde uno se da cuenta de lo que realmente significa tener mascotas. No es solo sacarles la foto linda pa’l Instagram, ni decir “ay qué ternura”. Es estar allí cuando se enferman, saber que son una responsabilidad grande, que necesitan atención, cuidado y plata también porque todo cuesta. Pero también te dan un amor puro que no tiene comparación.

So if you have furries, please take care of them as they deserve. They don't talk, but they show you with their little faces when something is wrong. You have to be attentive, take them to the vet when it's time and above all, do not leave them alone in difficult moments. Here we remain firm with Shakira and La Mochis, giving it all like a good dog mom!

Así que si tienes peluditos, por favor, cuídalos como se merecen. Ellos no hablan, pero te muestran con su carita cuando algo anda mal. Hay que estar atentos, llevarlos al vet cuando toca y sobre todo, no dejarlos solos en los momentos difíciles.
