A Classic Moab Camping Trip in Utah - Klasikleşen Moab Kamp Ziyareti [EN/TR]

I would like to share my Moab visit from last year with you through the photos, as I couldn't make it this year despite trying to go every year. Due to work commitments, I didn't manage to go this year, but I realized that I hadn't shared my photos from last year. Instead, there's a post from the year before that. For those interested, I'm sharing two links below.

Our camping spot was the Lower Onion Creek Campground, where we stay every year. Since I've already praised this place extensively in previous posts, I don't want to repeat myself. Last year, I wanted to explore the Corona Arch Trailhead since I had visited other parks. The hiking trail, reached at the end of a very scenic road, includes a few rugged climbs. I parked the car right next to the spot you see in the picture below and started my journey.

Kamp yerimiz her sene kaldığımız yer olan Lower Onion Creek Campground idi. Burasını bir önceki yazılarda öve öve bitiremediğim için sizlere tekrardan anlatmak istemiyorum. Geçen sene diğer parkları gezdiğimden dolayı Corona Arch Traihead'i görmek istemiştim. Arabayla çok da güzel bir yolun sonunda varılan yürüyüş yolunda birkaç engebeli tırmanış mevcut. After a distance not too far from where I parked the car, I managed to reach the train tracks. This captivating settlement, where the scorching heat of the climate merges with the red earth, is eager to impress us by offering the railway tracks, pioneers of the industrial revolution, as an appetizer. After this short climb where our shoes turn red, we still have the opportunity to make eye contact with the railway while still being able to see the parking lot.

Ayakkabılarımızın kızıllaştığı bu kısa tırmanış sonrasında otoparkı hala görebiliyorken demiryolu ile de göz göze gelme imkanı buluyoruz.

The train tracks, placed as if to separate the two red towers, speak to me in this dry silence. As I carefully cross from one side to the other, the thought of "what if I trip" involuntarily crosses my mind. Amidst these frightening thoughts, I suddenly find myself compelled to take a photo, and as you see below, I manage to capture the perfect shot, thus indulging my desire.

Historic railway track nestled in the red rock canyons

The walk continues amidst the beauty bestowed upon us by nature on the red sands. Lost in solitary thoughts amidst the crowd, I suddenly realize I've forgotten my thirst and drink water from my flask. This brief break reminds me of what the trail looked like, prompting me to recall, and once again, I reinforce it with a picture.

Kalabalığın içinde yalnız düşüncelere dalarken susuzluğumu unuttuğumu farkediyorum ve kana kana mataramdan su içiyorum. Leaving the train tracks behind, linking arms with the river, we're about 300 meters (~1000 ft) ahead and slightly higher. The crimson hills surrounding the railway seem to watch over it like elder siblings. The river, too, is like a childhood friend. There are moments when they are very close to each other, yet ultimately, they both go their separate ways.

Together yet apart

With just one more bend left to see the Arch, I'm nearing the completion of the first part of this moderately challenging hike. It feels like I'm capturing a scene reminiscent of Mars as I snap another picture. This time, my camera catches the landscape where vegetation decreases and the surroundings become even more rugged. These geographical formations, rare to find elsewhere on Earth, captivate me while the sun serves as a gentle reminder. I must continue because my water supply is also running low.

Arch'ı görmek için artık son bir dönemeç kalıyor. Bu orta derece zorluğa sahip yürüyüş yolunun da ilk etabını tamamlamak üzereyken adeta marsı andıran bir resim daha çekiyorum. Bu sefer bitki örtüsünün azaldığı ve etrafın daha da vahişleştiği yakalanıyor kamerama. Dünyada benzerine nadir rastlanan bu coğrafi yapılar insanı büyülerken güneş ufak bir hatırlatma yapıyor bana. Devam etmem gerekiyor çünkü suyum da bitmek üzere.

Surrounded by towering arches and rugged landscapes

After a small rock climb, the Arch finally comes into view. Although I didn't embark on this journey alone, I prefer solitude on hikes like this because it allows me to pause wherever I want and explore at my own pace. When you're with someone, you tend to adjust to their pace, whether slow or fast, which can be more tiring compared to following your own rhythm. Especially in a hot place like this, such trips become even more challenging for me.

Ufak bir kaya tırmanışı sonunda da artık Arch da gözüküyor. Bu seyahate yalnız başıma çıkmamış olsam da bu tarz yürüyüşlerde yalnız olmayı tercih ediyorum çünkü istediğim yerde duraklayıp istediğim tempoda gezebiliyorum. Yanınızda biri olduğu zaman onun temposuna ayak uydurmak, yavaş ya da hızlı, insanı kendi temposuna göre çok daha yoruyor. Hele ki böyle sıcak bir yerdeysem bu geziler benim için daha da sorunlu hale geliyor.

Perhaps I managed to capture its most secluded moment in the photo below. We cannot know for sure how many more years this natural formation will stand, but it certainly took quite some time to reach its current state.
