Photographs and Thoughts: The Heron of the Park

Subject of the Photograph
These photographs show a sculpture dedicated to a heron.

Description
In the middle of the park of the Cesena Hippodrome (Italy), you come across these five herons of different sizes, created using land art techniques.
The artists are MatteoLucca and OscarDominguez, who used exclusively natural materials. This work, as I mentioned before, is a work of Land Art. What is it? It's a contemporary art technique in which the artist uses the natural landscape as a material. Perhaps the beauty of this sculpture combined with the construction technique creates the perfect mix for total immersion in the viewer.
Another breathtaking aspect is the sheer size of the work; the herons are evidently smaller in reality, but their excessive size creates even more attraction.
The work is titled "Riva," and from my research, I understand it was created in 2024 and is part of a larger project called "MigraLandArt." However, I don't know where the other sculptures would be located.

The artists used natural materials from the surrounding area; their intent was to create a work that would become part of the landscape itself. Objective achieved.

Thoughts
These five herons are captivating. They seem to be a poetic symbol of the relationship between art and the natural landscape. Their size and beauty remind us how wonderful nature is and that we must absolutely respect it.

One thing that struck me about this sculpture is its complete integration with its surroundings. We're often accustomed to seeing sculptures inside museums or outdoors, placed in certain contexts. This work, however, is something completely different; it seems perfectly integrated into its context. These herons, the greenery of the park, and the trees seem to be one.

In queste fotografie è mostrata una scultura dedicata all’airone.

Descrizione
Nel mezzo del parco dell’ippodromo di Cesena (Italia) ci si imbatte in questi cinque aironi di dimensioni diverse, realizzati con tecniche di land art.
Gli artisti sono Matteo Lucca e Oscar Dominguez, che hanno utilizzato esclusivamente materiali naturali. Questa opera, come ho scritto prima è un’opera di Land Art. Cosa è? È una tecnica di arte contemporanea in cui l’artista utilizza il paesaggio naturale come materiale. Probabilmente la bellezza di questa scultura unita alla tecnica di costruzione creano il mix per un coinvolgimento totale di chi la ammira.
Un’altra cosa che fa rimanere senza fiato è la grandezza dell’opera, gli aironi sono evidentemente più piccoli nella realtà, ma la dimensione eccessiva crea ancora più attrazione.
L’opera è intitolata “Riva” e dalle mie ricerche ho compreso che è stata realizzata nel 2024 e che fa parte di un progetto più ampio che si chiama “Migra Land Art”, ma non saprei dove possano essere collocate le altre sculture.
Gli artisti in questo caso hanno usato materiali naturali della zona circostante, il loro intento era quello di creare un’opera che facesse parte del paesaggio stesso. Obiettivo centrato.

Pensieri
Davanti a questi cinque aironi lo sguardo si incanta. Sembrano il simbolo poetico del rapporto tra arte e paesaggio naturale. Le loro dimensioni e la loro bellezza ci ricordano quanto la natura sia meravigliosa e che dobbiamo assolutamente rispettarla.
Una cosa che mi ha stupito di questa scultura è la totale integrazione con l’ambiente. Spesso siamo abituati a vedere delle sculture all’interno di musei o all’aperto, inseriti in certi contesti. Quest’opera invece è tutta un’altra cosa, sembra perfettamente inserita nel contesto in cui è. Questi aironi, il verde del parco e gli alberi sembrano una cosa sola..
