Castelvecchio Bridge (Verona-Italy)
Description
This bridge is the most characteristic bridge in the city of Verona. In medieval times it was essentially a military bridge. This bridge is part of the Castelvecchio fortress and was built along the Adige river.
Some historians consider this bridge to be the most wonderful work of the Veronese Middle Ages.
As a type of bridge, it is an arched bridge and was built of stones and bricks.
The bridge is approximately 120 m long while its width is 6 m.
The designer of the work was Guglielmo Bevilacqua and the construction works began around 1350.
This bridge is extremely beautiful and at the time also had extreme importance from the point of view of military defense.
When you cross this bridge you are immersed in such beauty, you immerse yourself in the magic of the history of those times.
At a national level, that is, here in Italy, this bridge is probably not very well known. However, you can see from the photos I have included in this post how many tourists come to visit and cross this bridge. In this section of photos I tried to include photographs with as few visitors as possible, but I can assure you that the bridge was practically full of tourists
Request
Have you ever visited Verona? Have you ever crossed this bridge?

Constructed for military purposes, now serving civilians and tourists, I think the Castelvecchio Bridge is a good one. And the fact that it has survived centuries of use means it was very well built. Here in my country I've seen bridges collapse under 30 years of being built.
Thanks for the pictures. Happy Sunday.
This bridge has very strong walls
It’s a very beautiful and fantastic place
Nice pictures!
I haven't had the chance to visit Verona yet, but this bridge is definitely going on my travel bucket list. The bridge looks really stunning and I can see why it's considered one of the most characteristic and wonderful works of the Veronese Middle Ages. Thank you for sharing
What a beauty I have always been interested in traveling to Italy how nice it looks.
This bridge in the city of Verona is a very wonderful one
It looks very strong
That is an interesting looking bridge. You mentioned it was used as a military bridge, and maybe that's why there are gaps between walls. A soldier can hide behind them, and shoot from the gaps.
