RE: The wind banged our car.

These things happen. I'm always careful opening car doors when it is windy. It is amazing what the body shops can do for repairs. I would tend to avoid having a car with a fancy paint finish as that can be harder to match. These days cars tend to have lots of colour-matched plastic parts like mirrors and bumpers/fenders. Those used to be black plastic so you could just find a cheap replacement. I'm sure this is part of why insurance prices keep going up.
That guy on the bike could be in trouble if the wind caught his board. I've ridden a motorbike when it's windy and you can get blown around anyway
Take care out there.

I agree, and we have just accepted it. We have dangerous wind gusts here. The owner of the body shop is a friend of mine, and we have the VW manufacturers paint code for the car. So, it makes it easy to get the correct paint for the car. I hear you about the colour-matched trimmings, and the plastic parts, and we also have none of it on our car. Cheap replacements do not appear anymore, and it is all a money-making business. Everyone scores including the insurance companies.
I didn't even think about the wind risk when we saw him, and you are right, as if a wind gust gets him then he will be in real trouble. Those gusts flip big trucks over on the highways, and it could blow the biker into oncoming traffic lanes. Hopefully he will be okay.
Thank you and you do the same out there.
