European Folklore Festival
On the past Monday, I paid a visit to Paralia Katerini in the afternoon to take a walk and explore the various open stores and restaurants. It was exciting to witness the town buzzing with activity as the summer season was in full swing. To my surprise, I discovered that the INTERNATIONAL MUSIC AND DANCE FESTIVAL "SUMMER IN PARALIA" was taking place during that week.
As far as I understood, three countries participated in the festival: Ukraine, Bulgaria, and Slovakia. Each country showcased their own traditional dances and aimed to promote their unique culture to the other participating nations. I was particularly impressed by the energetic performance of the Ukrainian team, which mainly consisted of young people, likely under 18. The children from Bulgaria also displayed remarkable talent.
Unfortunately, I couldn't stay to watch the performance from Slovakia and the rest of the show because I initially went there for a walk. However, I ended up standing there for three hours, captivated by the festival atmosphere. 😂
But who is the organisation behind this event ?
The European Association of Folklore Festivals - EAFF has been established in year 2007 in the ancient capital of Bulgaria – Veliko Tarnovo. Its main purpose is to preserve, develop and make popular the folklore of the different European nations by organizing festivals and using the modern television, computer and other information technologies.
I hope that the municipality and the local hotel organization can continue their commendable efforts and organize more events like this, attracting an increasing number of visitors to experience Greece and get to know the Greek culture, as well as other diverse cultures and dances.

What beautiful photos of typical dances. It's important to keep the traditions of each country alive.
Very cool. I think watching traditional culture dancing is very interesting and unique.
Yes indeed i really liked it and the energy that they had while dancing in a foreign audience
3 hours is actually a lot of time to wait, but seeing and judging by the pictures and how colorful the event was, I think it was totally worth it.
