Varanasi – where the divine meets the ordinary in every step.

Walking around some of the narrow lanes of Varanasi gives you a very aesthetic feeling. Considered as one of the oldest city of the world, it may gives you many glimpses of various arts and culture. Some of the narrow lanes of the city is filled with many arts and murals. And each of the murals showcase the divine power of Shiva the destroyer.

Murals in Varanasi are a vibrant blend of deep-rooted spiritual traditions and modern urban art, featuring prominent paintings of Lord Shiva, Ganga aarti, and mythological scenes. While walking around the city i notices many such painting. Some still in good shape and other slowly fading away with time. Not sure who and when these were made, but walking pass the narrow lanes and seeing these all around does give some spiritual feeling the mind. It feels like we are in a different universe. Often found along the ghats, in narrow alleys, and on public walls, they showcase intricate graffiti, cultural folklore, faces of local people, and colorful stories celebrating Kashi's heritage. I consider snapping some on my walk to Manikarnika Ghat and they were just lovely.

Varanasi is called the City of Shiva because Hindu mythology considers it the earthly abode and city established by Lord Shiva, known as Kashi Vishwanath. The city is considered the ultimate home of Shiva and Parvati, creating a profound spiritual connection to the deity. Known also as the "City of Light" or Kashi, it serves as a central spiritual hub, with the city’s life, culture, and ancient traditions deeply interwoven with the worship of Lord Shiva.

In good faith - Peace!!
