Into the woods, we go... to find the magic mushrooms

Rainy days can be challenging in villages. While the rain is vital for agriculture, the associated difficulties can make daily life harder for villagers. Rainy days can make roads muddy, slippery, and difficult to navigate, especially in areas with poor drainage or unpaved roads. But not in my village as it has well connected roads. Ever since I started devoting time for farming, I started liking the spend time in villages during the rainy days. I am always fascinated to discover the fungi that can be seen in the wild. Today was not different and I encountered many sight of wild mushroom growing around my house.

Mushrooms appear after rain because the moisture provides the necessary conditions for fungal growth and reproduction. I am yet to visit the jungle areas, where most of the fungi can be found. But I already encountered many around my house. The first one is again at the same old door. Fungi in umbrella shap already started appearing.

Anyhow the door is not in used, still there were many of these fungi appears during every rainy season. As I moved out for a walk in evening, I found a little bunch of fungi growing from a tree roots that was cut long before. It was right near our entrance gate.

There were two spots where these wooden fungi growing. When I tried to clean the area, the bigger one easily detached from the roots. It was not as soft as other fungi. It appears to be little hard. The shape of these does look like a residual of pencil when shaved. I checked on Google and these were called as pencil shaving mushroom

It does not take me long to make some photos of these plucked fungi. The soil is still attached to its root. It giving me chance of taking picture on the green mosses. It does give some nice shots.

The small one was still attached to root area. They were too small to leave their roots.

Watching these fungi grows is always fascinating. These Fungi exhibit a wide array of shapes, sizes, and colors, from the delicate puffballs to the towering shelf fungi to pencil shaving. This variety is captivating and sparks curiosity about their specific adaptations. It was a grand welcome at home with these quick sighting.
