To the Century Tree at Canlaon: A Throwback Gala.
Hello Hivers, it's me again, Jenie♡.. Want to share with you about my trip to Canlaon City, Negros Oriental, last 2018. I had just recently given birth to Jepoy at that time🍼👶🏻🐣💖, maybe about 20 days ago. I'm from Negros, but I have never visited the Century Tree in Canlaon. It is also one of the tourist attractions in Canlaon, City, aside from the famous Kanlaon Volcano 🌋 that is also located there..
At that time, were already planning to get married, so the first thing we did was get a CENOMAR (Certificate of No Marriage Record) that is the 1st requirement in getting marriage license since our municipality didn't offer it. That's why we travelled to Canlaon City.
At that time, my stitches were still really painful because I had just had a C-section. But since I couldn't use an authorization letter, I still went. Plus we were the adventurous type.
That's our XRM 125 motorbike and our travel buddy, Jeffrey, from work. We love exploring new places together. That motorbike is already 15 years old, but it's still in good condition because Jeffrey takes good care of it., and even though it's old, it still looks almost new because it's properly maintained. We aim to buy another motorbike someday for the family since we can't afford to buy a car.
Canlaon City is a beautiful place. Aside from being cool, it's also called the 'Basket Capital of Negros Oriental.' You can buy fresh and cheap vegetables there. When I was still in high school, my mom's siblings would invite us every Christmas to help make cakes and cassava because they had a lot of orders. They would also pay us, and we were happy because it was hard to find money back then.
We finally arrived at the Century Tree. It's a massive type of tree. My mom, my grandma, and even our neighbors always used to say that if a tree is that big, it means someone is living in it who's different from us, so when I was a teen, I was really scared to get close to the big tree near our school because they said that if you get too close, someone might take you. But when we arrived at the Century Tree, I was truly amazed by its size, beauty, and shade. I can't even imagine how many people it would take to measure how big this tree is.
We took pictures right away with my partner to have a remembrance. Sorry for the person in the photo; I looked pitiful because I had just given birth. But I was happy at that time because, after such a long wait, the CENOMAR was the only reason I was able to visit the Century Tree. Even though it's far from the national road, once you get there, it's totally worth it.
Jeffrey was really happy at that time because he had only heard about the Century Tree in Canlaon before, but at that time, he was able to take a picture with it in person. After our visit to the Century Tree, we went straight to their City Hall to request our CENOMAR. That's all for today, Hivers. I still have more life stories and travel experiences to share with you in the future. That's it for now. God bless.
