Enjoy Picking Thysanolaena For Making Brooms 🧹 🏞

This is the beginning of Thysanolaena season. For a few days now, the people in my village have been picking the flowers to sell. I saw people from other villages and provinces come to sleep and pick them up and sell them also. I don’t know what its name is in English, but I learned its name in google Lens. They said, this plants in the grass family. The people in my country called it "dam ʔɑmbaoh", it means broom tree. I don’t know if it’s real name or not.

Two days ago my brother saw people picked them every day and he wanted to pick them too but not for selling, he wanted to make brooms and take it to his house. My two daughters and I went with him also because I never know how to pick it in my life. This is my first time picking it. These grasses are everywhere in this area and around my house has them also but they are not yet bloom.

We climbed a small hill on the other side of the road in front of our house. We have been living here for many months, but I have never been there.

We can see our house from the mountains.

My little girl enjoyed the nature and to pick Brooms grasses.

Broom grass do not flower much yet, they have just some flowers. We can only remove one flower at a time, but we can remove many other flowers that are similar to it.

There are so many this kind flowers. We called it is Dog Tail grass.

These are broomsticks, but we have not been able to remove them yet. My neighbor told me to wait for it to bloom, so we had to wait another three or four days. But just in the evening and I saw the one boy to picked them all what we see in this picture. That’s to made me laugh, we thinking waited it tree day and go to pick it but this boy to picked them all before us hehe.

Today my little girl and my brother are picked these flowers behind our house and he kept them to his house. This flower, if sold fresh, costs 1,000 riel per kilo, equivalent to 25 cents. But if sold after dry, 1 kilo is 3,000 riel. Now the children in this village go to pick this flower and sell it every day. My Monkey saw that and she asked me to go with her friend, but I would not let her go. Because the place to pick this flower is mostly uphill. I was afraid she was in danger because she was too small.

This is my broom and I used it maybe five months already, this one is 3000r. It’s still good but I want to pick them some for try to make a new broom by myself. I hope I could do it and show you all in Hive hehe 😜. Have a beautiful day everybody.
