Greetings to all nature and animal lovers. One of the things I enjoyed most about visiting a nature reserve was meeting new animals and being able to touch some of them. This experience was very enriching for my companions and me. Among the animals we could touch were small and large turtles and other more exotic creatures.

Do you recognise the animals on my cover? 🤓

I hope you can answer this question before reading my answer 😆, and if you do, congratulations 😉, because, to be honest, if I hadn't seen them in person and touched them, I wouldn't be able to guess their names, but I'll give you some clues: two of them are herbivores, which means they feed on grass, fruit and natural foods; the other is omnivorous, which means it eats plants, but may also include animals in its diet.

If that information doesn't help you, then I'll tell you that two of these animals are edible for carnivorous humans and the other is not as widely consumed, but is also hunted as prey for food.

I had never seen one of these animals in person, let alone touched one, but I had dreamed of doing so, although I was very nervous because I was intimidated by their large size. However, they are docile and gentle animals. Well, I think I've created enough suspense, so I'll reveal what the animals are... Are you ready? 😅

From right to left, they are: the one with dark grey fur is a wild pig, or cochino as it is called in my country; the one in the middle, and the big surprise, is a tapir, an endangered animal native to North America and Asia; and the other animal with lighter fur and a slimmer build is a capybara, or carpincho, better known in Venezuela as chigüire.

I can say that all of these animals are wild, they are not meant to be domesticated, they belong in open spaces. The tapir is not dangerous, it is very friendly and even seemed innocent to me. It has a snout like an anteater or a small elephant. There is a legend about this animal that says that María Lionza, a Venezuelan deity, rides it. In fact, there are statues that refer to this indigenous woman riding a tapir.

At the zoo, visitors are given carrots to feed them. I did this several times, but in the photo where I appear with that nervous smile, it's because it's a selfie and I was afraid it would bite my hand 🤣 all for a photo. They are also given processed food, and when it was served, they all ran to eat, and that was the moment I took that cover photo that I love. After the photo, I watched them for a while until they emptied their bowl. They ate so peacefully and calmly that they looked like brothers, an example that nature gives us.

Momentos de contacto con animales asombrosos

Saludos a todos los amantes de la naturaleza y de los animales. Una de las cosas que más disfruté de la visita a una reserva natural fue conocer animales nuevos y poder tocar algunos, esta experiencia fue muy enriquecedora para mis acompañantes y para mí, entre los animales que podíamos tocar estaban las pequeñas y grandes tortugas y otros más exóticos.

Espero que puedas responder esta pregunta antes de leer mi respuesta 😆, y si lo haces te felicito 😉, porque para ser sincera si yo no los hubiese visto en persona y tocado, no lograría adivinar sus nombres, pero te daré pistas, dos de ellos son herbívoros lo que quiere decir que se alimenta de hierbas, frutas y alimentos naturales el otro es omnívoro que significa que come plantas, pero también puede incluir animales en su dieta.

Si ese dato no te ayuda, entonces te digo que dos de esos animales son comestibles para los humanos carnívoros y el otro no es tan extendido su consumo, pero también es cazado como presa para comérselo.

Uno de esos animales no lo había visto nunca en persona y menos tocado, pero si había soñado con hacerlo, aunque lo hice con muchos nervios porque me íntimido su gran tamaño, pero son animales dóciles y mansos. Bueno creo que es suficiente el suspenso que he creado así que revelaré cuáles son los animales…. ¿Estás preparado? 😅

De derecha a izquierda son: el de pelaje oscuro y gris, es un cerdo salvaje o cochino como se le dice en mi país, el del medio y la gran sorpresa es una Danta animal en peligro de extinción, originaria de Norteamérica y Asía, y el otro animal de pelaje claro y más delgado es una capibara, carpincho o mejor conocido en Venezuela como chigüire.

De estos animales puedo decir que todos son salvajes, no están hechos para ser domesticados, pertenecen a espacios abiertos. La danta no es peligrosa, es muy amigable y me pareció hasta inocente, tiene un hocico como el del oso hormiguero o un elefante pequeño. De este animal hay una leyenda que dice que María Lionza una deidad Venezolana, la cabalga, de hecho hay estatuas que hacen referencia a esta indígena montada en una danta.

En el zoológico les dan a las visitantes zanahorias para que los alimenten, yo lo hice varias veces, pero en la foto en la que aparezco con esa sonrisa nerviosa es porque es un selfi y tenía miedo que me mordiera la mano 🤣 todo por una foto. También les dan alimentos procesados y cuando les sirvieron todos corrieron a comer y fue el momento justo que tome esa fotografía de portada que adore, después de la foto los observe por un rato hasta que vaciaron su taza, comieron con tanta paz y tranquilidad que parecían hermanos, un ejemplo que nos da la naturaleza.
