In the place where I live there are also many of these birds, in fact those who feed them are the grandparents who sit in the squares to spend some time, it's like a way to distract themselves, feeding the popcorn.
Maybe it's not just a distraction. But also that they want to feed the hungry. I have no idea how these birds manage to feed themselves in the city. I guess it's very difficult for them. And yet, there are still good people who do.
Regarding history - one only needs to have a general view of human history to be aware of the great significance of these birds in it.

What attracts the birds, I suppose, is the water in the large fountain, which looks, as I joked recently, like a lake. In this city, temperatures can get very high in the summer, and the poor birds find shelter from the heat here. It is truly an impressive sight to see their sheer numbers in that place. That's exactly why I took these pictures. 😊
