Wildlife spotting and landscape in July

avatar

I put together some video clips of wildlife and landscape of the area where I live. I captured some rainy days, along with spotting some turkey and many other kinds of birds. During the video we can see the family of geese hanging around, and taking off from the pond. We also see turkey walking around, through they are quite far. Along with that there is also some birds skimming the surface of the water appearing to be fishing. So lots of wildlife captured for last month, and I put it all together in a video. Find the link at the bottom of the post.

It is really cool seeing the geese fly now, for the last month they were walking everywhere so its good to see the airborne now.

A heron is walking the banks, very hard to see. Center of the above picture right where the water lilies end and where the soil begins.

The family of geese go on adventures straying far from the pond. We can see them across the field.

I think they like this hill so they can practice gliding back down into the pond.

Its funny just seeing them wandering around so much. I guess they are teaching their kids all about the outdoors and showing them different plants to consume.

Well they changed their mind and are now walking the other way.

But they hear one lone geese still in the pond, squawking and getting the attention from the others on land.

Eventually the pack makes their way back into the pond.

But not for long as they gather and then take off all at once.

They build up speed, kicking their legs and flapping their wings. Eventually they make it off the surface of the water. Though the family of geese do not go far, and land on the hill near by. One day, they will leave the area completely and find new places to live in.

I come across the geese later on and they let me get very close.

They just peck at the ground and look for stuff to eat.

The adults keep an eye on me while the little ones keep eating. But at this point its hard to tell which are the little ones.

All staying together in a group, no geese walks more than a few feet away from another.

When the leave the area they tend to walk in a line, its quite cute seeing it.

A kingfisher is up on the power lines above the pond. I see it dive in the water sometimes looking for something to eat I guess.

It was hard to get a good shot of it, with my lens zoomed in all the way that is closest we can see it. Maybe one day I will invest in a big zoom lens but for now I am limited to the kit lens most people buy for these cameras.

A family of turkey are spotted far away, I hope they come closer so we can see them better.

They are much more sensitive than the geese, as the stay far away from us.

I have seen their babies walking around too, hopefully I can get that on video one day.

If you liked the screen shots in the post, you can find video of them in the link below. With so much to see around here I will do my best to capture some moments when I see more wild life and hope to share it with the Hive community.

Geese are funny, but they can be mean fellas too. Plus their poo is just horrible. My in laws used to live in a neighborhood near a pond and the sidewalks were always covered with it!

We can see that animals and humans are not different from each other in terms of guiding children.😊

Today's post of yours is different from agriculture but close to the beauty of nature. I love to visit places that are blessed with the beauty of nature. Every one of your photographs is beautiful but the green grass field reflection in the water is my favorite. @solominer

Yep got to show the amazing nature of the area. Lots of hard work farming here but also important to appreciate the nature that surrounds.

A very big landscape, looking like that of a golf course.
The water body seems like there'll be fishes inside. I feel so.

And I was wondering if the geese are pets to have allowed you come closer to them without taking off. Lol😅

Haha yeah I can see that.

We wonder that too, we are thinking about offering them some peas to see if they will eat from our hands one day.

The video was pretty peaceful. I'd have to drive a decent distance from my home to get to a place like this. What type of camera do you have? A zoom lens was a big game changer for me when I finally got one.

I already saw these guys around here in the middle of a grassland without any water body! I think they search for food even in places without any water.
