Today I am sharing some photos of a beautiful plant - the Akanda tree, or scientifically Calotropis gigantea.
In many places in Bangladesh one can easily find the Akanda tree. It generally flourish on barren lands or by roadsides. Its flowers are very nice light purple or white petals that reveal the quiet beauty of nature.
This isn’t only a pretty tree but also helpful. Its leaves, bark, and roots are used to treat various health issues in Ayurvedic medicine.
The Akanda tree is pivotal for butterflies. Its leaves are the food of many butterfly larvae. So this tree also helps maintain the balance in nature’s food chain.
When we stop to notice these small gifts from nature, we realize that the most simple things can be wonderful, If we just take a moment to stop and look closely. I hope my photos and experience will inspire and encourage you to look at nature differently.
