Whenever I go to the village, one of the small natural beauties that gets noticed every time is a type of green leafy plant Maidenhair Fern. These plants have grown naturally at old brick walls of our ancestral home in the village.
The scientific name of the Maidenhair Fern is Adiantum spp. The leaves are very soft, and they spread out like wings. The light green leaves shine on their thin, dark stems in the morning sunlight. It's grows on its own. It has been born in the lap of nature without caring.
From what I’ve seen, this plant generally likes a wet spot. They’ve been growing for years on the north side of our house, along the old brick wall. Perhaps rainwater and the cooler, damp surface of the wall could be reasons that they survive there.
This plant does more than bring comfort to the eyes, it contributes to the balance of nature. I heard that it’s also widely used in herbal medicine in many parts of the world.
Today, I’ve shared a few pictures of this natural beauty. I hope Nature Observer community will like them too.
