The first part of E3 in the Czech Republic - Day 3

who decided to open this article about the third day on the E3 long-distance route in the territory of the Czech Republic. In today's article there will not be so much nature, but how I saw the cities of Loket nad Ohří and Karlovy Vary.

kteří se rozhodli otevřít tento článek o třetím dni na dálkové trase E3 na území České republiky. V dnešním článku nebude tolik přírody, ale především jak jsem viděl města Loket nad Ohří a Karlovy Vary.

I got up in the morning as usual, because I was sleeping near the town of Loket nad Ohří and I didn't want to be seen by some morning athlete. I reached the viewpoint overlooking the city and took the first photo of the day. After that, I went to buy groceries at a store near the train station. On the way I met several cyclists sleeping right in the city park, so I figured I didn't have to worry about being caught sleeping outside the city.

Ráno jsem vstal jako obvykle, jelikož jsem spal nedaleko města Loket nad Ohří a nechtěl jsem býti viděn nějakým tím ranním sportovcem. Došel jsem na vyhlídku nad městem a pořídil první fotografii dne. Poté jsem se vydal na nákup potravin do obchodu nedaleko nádraží. Cestou jsem potkal několik cyklistů spících přímo ve městě v parku a tak jsem usoudil, že jsem se nemusel strachovat, že budu chycen při spaní za městem.

A short distance behind the station, I saw a view of the castle. Definitely the best I have found so far during my visits to the city.

Kousek za nádražím se mi naskytl takovýto pohled na hrad. Jednoznačně nejlepší jaký jsem zatím při mých návštěvách města našel.

Being in the city center of Loket without people is a relatively rare event. Because the city is very visited by tourists and during the summer there are many concerts in the amphitheater under the castle. Or the World Motocross Championship is held at the local motocross track.

Být v centru města Loket bez lidí je poměrně raritní událost. Protože město je velmi navštěvováno turisty a během léta je zde mnoho koncertů v amfiteátru pod hradem. Nebo se na místní motokrosové trati jezdí Mistrovství světa v motokrosu.

Then all that was left for me was to climb down from the walls and connect to the E3 route.

Pak už mi zbývalo jen slézt z hradeb a napojit se na trasu E3.

There is an unusual memorial tree on the northern edge of the city. That tree is Ivy, which has grown to respectable dimensions here on the rock.

Na severním okraji města je netypický památný strom. Tím stromem je Břečťan, který zde na skále dorostl úctyhodných rozměrů.

I continued along the river Ohře, which is lined with high rocks in several places. Hundreds of boats sail on the surface in the summer months and cyclists race on the surrounding cycle path. About halfway to Karlovy Vary, I decided to leave the E3 route, because I had walked the specific section in reverse a few years ago and the places where the route leads did not entice me to visit again. In addition, a film festival was held in the city. So the historical center of Karlovy Vary was totally full of people and I wanted to avoid that. That's why I went to town around the river on the bike path.

Pokračoval jsem podél řeky Ohře, která je na několik místech lemována vysokými skalami. Po hladině v letních měsících plují stovky lodí a na okolní cyklostezce se prohání cyklisté. Zhruba v polovině cesty do Karlových Varů jsme se rozhodl opustit trasu E3, protože konkrétní úsek jsem šel před pár lety obráceně a místa kudy trasa vede mě nelákalo navštívit znova. Navíc se ve městě konal filmový festival. Takže historické centrum Karlových Varů bylo totálně plné lidí a tomu jsem se chtěl vyhnout. Proto jsem do města šel kolem řeky po cyklostezce.

After I reached the Karlovy Vary racetrack, I saw a flock of Nile geese.

Poté co jsem došel ke Karlovarskému závodišti uviděl jsem hejno Husic Nilských.

I bought a cap at the local shopping center because I forgot it at home and the sun was quite unforgiving. At the local shipyard, I had two reasonably priced beers with two old punks and moved on. But I forgot that I took an allergy pill about two hours ago. I must say that this combination put me in a euphoric mood and somehow I decided to capture the industrial spirit of Karlovy Vary. I will definitely not try this combination again.

V místním nákupním centru jsem si koupil kšiltovku, protože jsem ji nechal doma a slunce bylo dost nekompromistí. V místní loděnici jsem si u dvou starých pankáčů dal dvě piva za rozumnou cenu a vyrazil dál. Jenže jsem zapomenul, že jsem si asi před dvěma hodinami dal prášek na alergii. Musím říci, že mi tato kombinace navodila euforickou náladu a nějak jsem se rozhodl, že zachytím Karlovarského industriálního ducha. Rozhodně tuto kombinaci nebudu zkoušet znova.

There is a castle park in the Dalovice district, where there is one of the oldest oak trees in the territory of the republic. Its age is estimated at 1000 years and its health condition is good, so it is possible that it will be here for a few centuries.

Ve čtvrti Dalovice je zámecký park, kde je jeden z nejstarších dubů na území republiky. Jeho stáří je odhdováno na 1000 let a jeho uzdravotní stav je dobrý, takže je možné že tu jeětě nějaké staletí bude.

After about 7 km I reached the village of Velký rybník and here I saw the Krušné hory up close for the first time, which will be my home for the next few days. I walked almost 4 kilometers from the pond to the place where I spent the night.

Po cca 7 km jsem došel do obce Velký rybník a zde jsem viděl poprvé zblízka Krušné hory, které budou pár dalších dní mým domovem. Od rybníka jsem ušel ještě skoro 4 kilometry do místa kde jsem přenocoval.

Since it was the third day of the trip, I didn't want to increase the distance, so I walked "only" 31.5 km. Considering that I walked most of the day along the river, the elevation gain was not dizzying, totaling about 500 meters. It was necessary to rest a little, because the hard days were still ahead.

Jelikož se jednalo o třetí den cesty, nechtěl jsem hrotit vzdálenost a tak jsem ušel "jen" 31.5 km. Vzhledem k tomu, že jsem většinu dne šel podíl řeky tak ani převýšení nebylo nijak závratné dohromady cca 500 metrů. Bylo třeba si trochu odpočinout, protože těžké dny byly stále přede mnou.
