Expedition Tenerife nr.3 - Day 2

I welcome all readers to the second installment of travel notes on the island of Tenerife. The first day was marked by wandering through the cities, and on the second day we had an arranged contact with a Czech who decided to settle in Tenerife.

Vítám všechny čtenáře u druhého pokračování zápisků z cest po ostrově Tenerife. První den byl ve znamení protloukání se městy a na druhý den jsme měli domluvený kontakt s jedním Čechem, který se rozhodl na Tenerife usadit.

As we had to meet at 8 o'clock in the morning by the highway below the village of Barranco Hondo. So we had to get up before sunrise and we calculated that we would cover 4 km in about an hour. But we were wrong, because the road marked as paved was rocky through the green semi-desert. Only at the edge of the village was the road made of asphalt, but from a very steep hill. So the trip didn't take us an hour, but almost two. Fortunately, Our contact was also delayed by about 2 hours, which happens with island life. When we finally met, he loaded us into his car and drove us to his property.

Jelikož jsme byli domluveni na setkání v 8 hodin ráno u dálnice pod vesnicí Barranco Hondo. Tak jsme museli vstávat, ještě před východem slunce a počítali jsme že 4 km ujdeme asi za hodinu. Ale to jsme se mýlili, protože cesta co byla značená jako zpevněná byla kamenitá skrze zelenou polopoušť. Teprve až na pokraji vesnice byla cesta z asfaltu, ale zase z velmi prudkého kopce. Takže nám cesta netrvala hodinu, ale skoro dvě. Naštěstí Náš kontakt měl také zpoždění asi 2 hodiny, což se při ostrovním životě stává. Když jsme se konečně potkali, naložil nás do auta a odvezl k sobě na pozemek.

The gentleman showed us his land in the beautifully green Barranco, offered us accommodation for a little work on the land. He gave us some dried green plants and we set off again for the adventure the island had in store for us.

Pán nám ukázal svůj pozemek v krásně zeleném Barrancu, nabídl nám ubytování za trochu práce na pozemku. Dal nám trochu sušené zelené rostliny a my jsme vyrazili opět za dobrodružstvím, které si pro nás ostrov připravil.

As we were further south than in the morning and we had planned to cross the main ridge of the island outside the main Caldera. We had to go north. We reached the Camino real de Fasnia hiking trail, which met our direction.

Jelikož jsme byli více na jihu než ráno a my jsme měli v plánu překonat hlavní hřeben ostrova mimo hlavní Calderu. Museli jsme vyrazit na sever. Došli jsme k turistické stezce Camino real de Fasnia, která náš směr splňovala.

The journey was quite scenic. First, a view of the Montana de Fasnia hill.

Cesta byla dosti scénická. Nejprve výhled na kopec Montana de Fasnia.

A survey of local plants, because it was only here that I began to realize that the local desert is unusually green. Which was definitely not the case during my previous visits.

Průzkum místních rostlin, protože až teprve zde jsem si začal uvědomovat, že místní poušť je neobvykle zelená. Což rozhodně nebyla v při mých předchozích návštěvách.

Because there was more greenery here, there were also far more mosquitoes and the local reservoirs are an ideal breeding ground.

Tím že zde bylo více zeleně, tak zde bylo i daleko více komárů a místní nádrže jsou ideálním líhništěm.

We could also observe the neighboring island of Gran Canaria on the way.

Dále jsme na cestě mohli pozorovat sousední ostrov Gran Canaria.

And since it was quite warm, we stopped for a while in the shade of Barranco de Fasnia, which is a natural monument. A deep valley that is not marked realistically on the map. To cross the valley, we had to descend 30 meters down and the same height up.

A jelikož bylo docela teplo tak jsme se na chvíli zastavili ve stínu Barranco de Fasnia, což je přírodní monument. Hluboké údolí které v mapě není značeno reálně. Pro překonání údolí jsme museli sestoupat 30 metrů dolů a stejnou výšku nahoru.

After approx. 1500 meters, we reached the center of the village of Bayón, which is actually a cluster of houses scattered on the hillside. He had their pub with a restaurant. Thirsty from crossing the valley and the scorching sun, we settled inside and had 3 quick beers each. Meanwhile, a quick rain shower came and when we left the facility it was partly clear again.

Po cca 1500 metrech jsme došli do středu vesnice Bayón což je vlastně jakýsi shluk domů rozesetý po svahu. Ale měli svojí hospodu s restaurací. Žízniví z překonávání údolí a pálícího slunce jsme se usadili uvnitř a dali 3 rychlá piva. Mezitím přišla rychlá dešťová přeháňka a když jsme zařízení opouštěli bylo zase polojasno.

We headed between two valleys to a small ridge with terraced gardens that were rather neglected and so we decided to spend the night here.

Zamířili jsme mezi dvě údolí na malý hřeben s terasovitými zahradami, které byli poněkud zanedbané a tak jsme se rozhodli zde strávit noc.

The second day on the island was slower as we spent a lot of time sitting around. Moreover, we were walking downhill most of the time, but this was to change in the following days. In the form of longer distances and especially bigger hills.

Druhý den na ostrově byl takový pomalejší, jelikož jsme spoustu času strávili posedáváním. Navíc jsme většinu času šli z kopce, ale toto se mělo v následujících dnech změnit. V podobě větších vzdáleností a hlavně větších kopců.
